Submit Officer Application, Platform*, Two Teacher Recommendations (attached forms), and Signed Demerit Form to Mrs. Naymick by March 29th at 3:15 p.m. If you have access to , you can Mrs. Naymick at to request the electronic packet. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Naymick, the HOSA advisor in charge of the elections. 2. Application, Platform, and Teacher Recommendations will be posted outside room 512 by March 15th. 3. Candidate Interviews will take place the week of April 12 th. 4. Candidates will be assigned an interview time. Interviews will take ~ 5-10 minutes. Candidates will need to make an oral presentation (1-2 minutes) indicating their qualifications and platform*. Appointment times will be posted outside of room 512 on April 1 st by 3:15 p.m. 5. Newly elected officers will be installed during the April Awards Banquet on April 24th in the GCHS cafeteria from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Newly elected officers are responsible for clean up. Plan to stay an extra minutes to clean up. Attend all meetings. Maintain good communications with officers & advisers. Learn to delegate; let others have opportunities for leadership. Promote membership. Participate in club fundraisers. Maintain good grades. No referrals or detentions. Be aware that you represent your club at all times; you are a role model! Participate in competitive events. *A platform is a statement about what you, the officer candidate, will do if elected. These should be your goals. The statement should indicate how the chapter would benefit from your being an officer. It does not include your qualifications. **The nominating committee will be made up of current HOSA president, at least one CTSO advisor and a member of the GCHS administration. The committee will not be comprised of the candidate s opponents. During the interview, committee members will question candidates about their qualifications, platform, recommendations, and officer responsibilities. The committee is charged with determining that officers who have submitted applications and other necessary paperwork are actually qualified and have met all the requirements set forth by the chapter s constitution and bylaws. You should treat this interview as if it were for a job; dress appropriately. The schedule may be adjusted if the number of candidates necessitates adjustments.

8 Demerit Program HOSA Officers It is important that the HOSA officers are true leaders not just officers. Therefore, it is essential that they fulfill their officer obligations and actively participate in chapter activities. In an effort to strengthen the contributions of the HOSA executive council, a demerit program will be enforced as follows: 3 demerits for an unexcused absence from a Leadership Team meeting 3 demerits for an unexcused absence from the program of work planning meeting(s) 2 demerits for an unexcused absence from a monthly chapter meeting 4 demerits for not forming committees or assigning a chairperson 6 demerits for failure to perform an officer duty 3 demerits for failure to behave in a professional manner (detention/iss) 2 demerits for failure to adhere to GCHS or HOSA dress code Upon receiving 10 demerits, the officer will receive a written warning from an advisor. A copy will be given to the officer, advisor, and student activities director. Upon receiving 15 demerits, the officer will be asked by the advisor to resign his/her office. Resignation should be made in writing within two days of request. Upon receiving 16 demerits, the officer will be removed from office. The president will appoint with the approval of the executive council a replacement officer. Advisors and/or executive council reserve the right to amend the demerit system as needed. Officers will be notified in writing about any changes. Active advisors will assign demerits. Their decisions will be final.
