6 Section 31a (3): Third Grade Reading Law & Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Key Points Complies with Third Grade Reading Law (Section 1280F of the Revised School Code, MCL F) Use resources to address early literacy in Grades K-3 Implements MTSS 4-8; if not a 4-8 entity, then all grades it operates There are 10 criteria contained within the legislation in a-j. 11 Why Confronting Our Legacy Matters In schools there are other curricula besides the one being verbalized. There are the ones in the hallways with snide remarks from the peers, on the playground with put-downs learned from parents and in the celebration of holidays at school that can completely panic a happy family.the third grade was a bad year. 32 It takes all of us-teachers, parents, community members. Leaders have to have a commitment to the community. We have to be stakeholders in the community. We can t just be a visitor or part-timer, or somebody passing through. You have to have that combination of things, some experience in and knowledge of the community, caring about kids, and then the money.
