Warner This presentation explores the nature and functions of the new cabinet level department within the NC Governor s office and provides an overview of the programs and information available to assist service members and veterans. 10:00 Tips in Estate Planning and Administration Privette This presentation addresses advance medical directives, powers of attorney, will drafting, and estate administration issues arising within the context of serving military service members, retirees and their families. 11:00 Break 11:15 Consumer Finance Protection Bureau Susan M. Camp Stocks Learn the history of the newest federal agency, its structure, its Office of Servicemember Affairs, consumer tools and the information available. Understand the rule-making and enforcement actions, particularly as they relate to military service members and their families. 12:15p Networking Lunch (included at Live program only) 1:00 Landlord and Tenant Issues Michael S. Archer and George D. Humphrey II This session addresses the most commonly arising landlord/tenant issues arising in a military legal assistance setting: early lease termination, security deposits and repair of premises. This session also addresses recent developments in the application of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) to civil proceedings, including evictions. MCLE credit is reported by NCBA Foundation only if a NC State Bar number is provided.
