James Gilbert summarized the discussions from June 14 th and the steps the Department has taken to address the feedback from this planning meeting. Members will be provided with the opportunity to input into the agenda in future meetings. The recommendations from VAC s former advisory committees continue to be relevant. The Committee will begin by reviewing the recommendations from the New Veterans Charter Advisory Group (NVCAG). Benefits Navigator /Plain Language James Gilbert presented the Benefits Navigator project and the work underway in the Department to make the tool available internally to the Department, as well as the work underway to make it available on the VAC external website. Peter Yendall talked about plain language and the clean-up of the web site to remove outdated and redundant information as well as the publications review underway. VAC agreed to consider the recommendation that the Benefits Navigator be broadened to include linkages with other Government Departments such as Canada Revenue Agency, Canada Pension Plan, and Service Canada.
