3 training. The current training was given to new general body members of FO under WSIP. One day training on Planning & Channel O&M was held on 12 th Sept 2013 at FO Office Macheri Minor, District Badin. The training was organized by Transition Wing-SIDA with joint collaboration of Left Bank Canal Area Water Board Badin. The Board of Management Members of FO Macheri Minor attended the training. The participation percentage was good. 30 FO Participants and SIDA/AWB Resource Persons attended the training. Brief Description The resource persons delivered the lectures and covered major topics of WSIP Orientation and Participatory Irrigation Management (PIM), Organizational Management and Abiana Assessment & Collection. During Abiana Session all participants took over at field and they did practical assessment technique. The AWB Canal Assistant very clearly informed them about assessment techniques and practically does the job. FO representatives very interestingly participated in the practical exercise During Q&A session all resource persons played vital role while answering to FOs. The General Manager Transition SIDA also attended the training and appreciated the efforts of Training Center and LBCAWB for organizing the event. He also thanked to FO participants to show their keen interest in training. GMT focused his views on FOs sustainability informed them. He said that learning is continuous process. He promised FOs to arrange exposure visit to other AWBs FOs. In last FO Chairman thanked to all participants and also thanked to GMT for arranging such event. During training working refreshment was served and in last certificate distributed and lunch was served to all participants. Training Observations & Impact The whole body of FO was new and recently the re-election for 2 nd tenure of FO body was conducted by staff of LBCAWB. The FO members showed keen interest in the training and also demanded exposure visit. During training the focus was made that new body make FO sustainable in term of financial & organizational empowerment. As FO is an individual entity, it can also generate funds through other resources like donor organizations and through other external and personal resources. It was also emphasized that FO must install sign boards and show its visibility. A good impact of training will be seen in term of Abiana Collection, FO Visibility and their Organizational Management aspect. 3
