1 IN-STATE COLLEGES & INSTITUTIONS ALABAMA A&M UNIVERSITY Scholarship Application Procedure Complete the scholarship application form. Write an essay addressing the questions listed in the essay criteria. Request an official copy of transcript and include it with your scholarship package. Submit your entire scholarship application package to John Stallworth Foundation, 200 Pratt Ave., Suite B-2, Huntsville, AL in one envelope. Incomplete packages will not be considered. A completed scholarship application package must be mailed from the applicant s high school counselor s office and must include the following: Completed, signed application form Essay (typed, 250 words maximum) Up to 3 letters of recommendations Official high school transcript with SAT/ACT scores Principal and/or counselors report Copy of your Alabama A&M admission s acceptance letter. Type I Scholarship - Award Criteria Must be a United States citizen. Must be a high school senior, graduating in good standing Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 and a score in the 50 percentile on either the ACT or SAT college entrance examination. Must have exhibited leadership qualities in high school, church or community activities. Must provide high school principal or counselors report form and at least one letter of recommendation from community leader (e.g., pastor, teacher, etc.). Must submit a typed essay (250 words maximum) outlining future career goals and briefly state why he/she should be awarded the scholarship. Must submit a copy of Alabama A&M University s acceptance letter with application package. Type III Scholarship Award Criteria Must be a United States citizen. Must be a high school senior, graduating in good standing. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and a minimum ACT score of or an SAT score between Must have held leadership positions in high school, church or community activities. Must provide high school principal or counselors report form and at least one letter of recommendat ion from a community leader (e.g., pastor, teacher, etc.). Must submit a typed essay (250 words maximum) outlining future career goals and briefly state why he/she should be awarded the scholarship. Must submit a copy of Alabama A&M University s acceptance letter with application package. Applicant must transfer from an accredited college. The Presidential Scholarship pays full tuition, books, required fees and on-campus room and board for a maximum of eight semesters for freshmen and a maximum of six semesters for college transfer students. Also, $1,200 annually is provided for incidentals. This is a renewable scholarship, provided you maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Coleman, Visual Arts: Stephen Cappelli, AUBURN UNIVERSITY Website: National Merit Finalists and National Achievement Finalists National Merit Finalists and National Achievement Finalists receive a National Scholars Presidential Scholarship: Tuition for four years for Alabama residents, currently valued at $33,024 ($8,256 per year), or $80,000 over four years for non-residents ($20,000 per year) $1,000 technology stipend in the first fall semester

4 $2,500 enrichment experience stipend available for one semester after the second year of study at Aub urn for study abroad or undergraduate research On-campus housing stipend for one year valued at $6,700 University stipend for four years at $4,000 to $8,000 ($1,000 to $2,000 per year), depending on eligibility as determined by National Merit Scholarship Corporation and financial need as determined through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A National Scholars Presidential Scholarship replaces a Spirit of Auburn Scholarship or an Academic Scholarship if previously awarded. National Merit and Achievement Finalists must have a minimum 3.5 high school GPA and meet the February 1 application for admission deadline, and apply through AUSOM to receive consideration. National Merit Finalists should contact National Merit Scholarship Corporation to name Auburn University as their first choice institution by May 1. National Merit Finalists who wish to change a previously named first choice to Auburn must do so by an earlier deadline in April, as determined each year by National Merit Scholarship Corporation. National Achievement Finalists should mail or fax a copy of their notification letter to the Office of University Scholarships through AUSOM by May 1. Housing availability and assignments are determined by the Department of University Housing. Alabama National Merit Semifinalists and Alabama National Achievement Semifinalists Alabama National Merit and Achievement Semifinalists who have a minimum 3.5 high school GPA and meet the February 1 application for admission deadline receive a four-year, renewable Spirit of Auburn Founders Scholarship in the amount of tuition, currently valued at $33,024 over four years ($8,256 per year), replacing a Freshman Scholarship of lesser value if previously awarded. Students must apply through AUSOM to receive consideration. National Hispanic Scholars National Hispanic Scholars who have a minimum 3.5 high school GPA and meet the February 1 application for admission deadline are eligible for a university stipend for four years at $4,000 to $8,000 ($1,000 to $2,000 per year) based on financial need as determined through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). National Hispanic Scholars who meet the December 1 Freshman Scholarship priority deadline may also receive consideration for a Freshman Scholarship based on their standardized test scores and high school GPA. National Hispanic Scholars provide a copy of their notification letter to the Office of University Scholarships through AUSOM by May 1. Spirit of Auburn Scholarships Spirit of Auburn Scholarships are awarded to Alabama residents from October to December, based on academic achievement as demonstrated by the high school GPA and standardized test scores. These four-year, renewable scholarships are awarded at three levels: Presidential, Founders, and University. Students accepted for admission, apply through AUSOM by December 1 and have minimum ACT or SAT scores and high school GPA requirements to receive consideration. Minimum test scores required for consideration at each level do not include the writing score.

Founders Scholarship Requires a ACT or SAT score and a minimum 3.5 high school GPA for consideration. Awarded at tuition for four years. University Scholarship Requires a ACT or SAT score and a minimum 3.5 high school GPA for consideration. Awarded at $12,000 over four years ($3,000 per year). Academic Non-Resident Academic Scholarships are awarded among eligible non-residents in December, based on academic achievement as demonstrated by standardized test scores and high school GPA. These four-year, renewable scholarships are awarded at three levels: Presidential, Heritage, and Charter. Students accepted for admission must apply through AUSOM by December 1 and have the minimum ACT or SAT score and high school GPA requirements to receive consideration. Heritage Scholarship Requires a ACT or SAT score and a minimum 3.5 high school GPA for consideration. Awarded at $48,000 over four years ($12,000 per year). Charter Scholarship Requires a ACT or SAT score and a minimum 3.5 high school GPA for consideration. Awarded at $24,000 over four years ($6,000 per year). Resident Freshman Scholarships Elite Scholarships The University Scholarship Committee invites a select group of eligible incoming freshmen to apply for up to six of Auburn s most prestigious scholarships. Students typically invited to apply through AUSOM in December are those with a minimum 34 ACT or 1490 SAT score and a 3.5 high school GPA by the December 1 Freshman Scholar ship priority deadline. Following a January application deadline, finalists are invited to campus in February to interview. Several hundred applications are received each year, from which approximately 14 students are named finalists. Elite Scholars receive an additional $10,000 to $30,000 over four years ($2,500 to $7,500 per year). Elite Scholarships include: Roberts and Mildred Blount Presidential Endowed Scholarship Must be a resident and a graduate of a high school in Elmore County, Alabama, and have a minimum 28 ACT or 1250 SAT score and a 3.5 high school GPA. Awarded at $20,000 over four years ($5,000 per year).

6 Blount Presidential Endowed Scholarship Must be an Alabama resident; have a minimum 31 ACT or 1360 SAT score and a 3.5 high school G PA; and be enrolled in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or building science. Awarded at $20,000 over four years ($5,000 per year). Dudley University Scholarship Must meet the criteria for another Elite Scholarship. Award amount varies. McWane Foundation Scholarship Must have a minimum 34 ACT or 1490 SAT score and a 3.5 high school GPA. Awarded at $30,000 over four years ($7,500 per year). Yetta G. Samford Class of 1917 Engineering Endowed Scholarship Must have a minimum 34 ACT or 1490 SAT score and a 3.5 high school GPA and be enrolled in engineering. Awarded at $16,000 over four years ($4,000 per year). Vulcan Materials Company Presidential Endowed Scholarship Must have a minimum 34 ACT or 1490 SAT score and a 3.5 high school GPA. Awarded at $20,000 over four years ($5,000 per year). Auburn Spirit Foundation Legacy Scholarship Auburn Spirit Foundation Legacy Scholarships are awarded competitively among incoming freshmen who apply through AUSOM by December 1. Scholarship amount is $6,000 over four years ($1,500 per year). Awarded mid- January. Students must have a minimum 26 ACT or 1170 SAT score and a 3.5 high school GPA. Students should indicate on the application for admission if they have a parent or guardian who is an alumnus of Auburn University (main campus) Students who have already been recognized with a Freshman Scholarship of equal or greater value are ineligible for consideration. Auburn Spirit Foundation Legacy Scholarships are awarded competitively based on available funding, and consideration does not guarantee a scholarship will be awarded. Achievement Scholarship Achievement Scholarships are awarded among eligible incoming Alabama residents who apply through AUSOM by December 1. Scholarship amount is $6,000 over four years ($1,500 per year). Students must have a minimum 26 ACT or 1170 SAT score and a 3.5 high school GPA. Students may not have been recognized by the Office of University Scholarships with a Freshman Scholarship of equal or greater value are ineligible for consideration.

7 Achievement Scholarships are awarded competitively based on available funding, and consideration does not guarantee a scholarship will be awarded. AUBURN UNIVERSITY MONTGOMERY Auburn University Montgomery offers excellent scholarship opportunities to students of high academic achievement. These scholarship programs are available to new undergraduate students at AUM. Merit Scholarship Program AUM offers a variety of scholarship opportunities for entering freshman and community college transfers, as well as for those currently enrolled. Most scholarships require full-time attendance and are based on the applicant s academic or extracurricular record, while some are based on financial need. To ensure that you are consid ered for all scholarship opportunities please complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually. The FAFSA website provides information about FAFSA and completing a financial aid application. New Student Scholarship Information If you will be a new AUM student who is either an entering freshman who has recently graduated from high school or a community college transfer student you may be eligible for one of our scholarships. ACT scores are received after each test date and scholarship offers are made to those with ACT scores of 23 or higher. If you have taken the ACT previously, your scholarship may be increased to reflect your higher score. Check with us to see if the higher award amount can be provided. The application for admission serves as the application for scholarships. Apply for Admission to Auburn University at Montgomery. Request official ACT or SAT scores to be sent electronically or mailed to the Admissions Office. Request official high school transcript (or community college transcript) be mailed to: AUM Office of Admissions P.O. Box Montgomery, AL Your transcript must show grades through the junior year (most recent term for community college transfers). NOTE: Complete the above requirements by March 1st, If you have questions regarding scholarships, Lakisha Wingard, University Scholarships Manager, or call Freshman AUM Scholarships Programs AUM offers excellent scholarship opportunities to students of high academic achievement. The application for admission serves as the application for Freshman Merit Based Scholarships so a separate application is not required. Priority is given to students admitted by March 1. The minimum academic requirements for scholarship consideration are for first-time, full-time freshmen entering AUM in Fall 2013 directly from high school. All merit-based awards are renewable and amount is per year. The following scholarships are automatically renewed for up to a total of four academic years (up to a total of two years for community college transfers) provided you maintain full-time enrollment each semester (12 semester hours for fall & spring terms) and your overall GPA on all work attempted at AUM does not fall below a 3.0.

8 Chancellor s Scholarships are offered to new AUM students who have a minimum ACT composite score of 27 or a minimum SAT score of These scholarships generally pay full tuition at in-state rate up to the amount required to pay for 15 hours of enrollment each term. The current annual value is $8,150 ($32,600 awarded over a four year period). Warhawk Scholarships are offered to new AUM students who have a minimum ACT composite score of 23 or a minimum SAT score of 1070 and a minimum GPA of 3.5. The scholarship generally pays tuition charges up to $3000 per academic year ($1,500 per semester) for students enrolled full time. Achievement Scholarships are offered to new AUM students from who have a minimum ACT composite score of 23 or a minimum SAT score of 1070 and GPA of The scholarship generally pays tuition charges up to $2000 per academic year ($1,000 per semester) for students enrolled full time. Recognition Scholarships are offered to new AUM students from Alabama high schools who have a minimum ACT composite score of 20 or a minimum SAT score of 950 and minimum GPA of 3.5. The scholarship generally pays tuition charges up to $1,000 per academic year ($500 per semester) for students enrolled full time. Valedictorian Scholarships are offered to new students who are the Valedictorian of their graduating high school class. Valedictorian Scholarships are awarded an $8,000 Housing Stipend (annual value $2,000). This scholarship is eligible for combination with scholarship listed above. Confirmation of valedictorian status is required. Transfer Scholarships are offered to transfer students who have completed their sophomore year with a 3.5 GPA at an Alabama community college. Students who receive the Transfer Scholarship will be awarded $2,500 per academic year and must maintain a 3.0 GPA while at AUM. April 1 is the Transfer Scholarship priority deadline. Continuing AUM Students Scholarship Information AUM offers a variety of academic or merit scholarships for currently enrolled students. Merit Scholarships are awarded for one academic year only and range in value from $500 to full tuition (15 hours) per year. The application deadline is March 1 each year. Students who maintain eligibility must reapply for consideration each year. Eligibility Criteria Must have successfully completed at least 12 GPA credit hours at AUM. Must have and maintain a 3.0 or greater overall GPA on your work at AUM. Complete the application by the priority deadline of March 1. Maintain full-time enrollment each term. Because these scholarships are limited in number, awards are made to only the most qualified applicants who meet the priority deadline of March 1 each year and applicants will be notified in June of the scholarship committee s decision. Scholarships are generally limited to no more than one award per student. AUM merit scholarships are limited to a specific dollar value and may be applied toward full-time tuition, technology fees, student activity fees and administration fees only. Any scholarship funds remaining after these fees are paid and returned to the scholarship account and are not refundable to the student. The student must pay all fees above the dollar value of the scholarship, including applicable out-of-state charges. Application

9 To apply, complete the on-line application (the deadline is March 1 each year). Fill-in the application form. Review your information for accuracy. Select the submit button to send your application to the Financial Aid Office. BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN COLLEGE All scholarships are described in the Birmingham-Southern Scholarship and Financial Aid Guide. No separate application is required for consideration of merit-based funds. All applicants are encouraged to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Contact: Sheri S. Salmon, Dean of Enrollment Management BSC, Box Birmingham, Alabama or (205) Blount-Monaghan Honors Scholarship Four year full tuition Must maintain a 3.0 Grade Point Average each year Elizabeth Rose Hayes Scholarship Four year full tuition Awarded to first year students planning to pursue a career in a health-related fields and 3.0 GPA each year Ministerial Tuition Scholarship Varies Awarded to students majoring in religion or who present satisfactory evidence of an intention to be ordained into the ministry or to enter fulltime Christian service. Awards are for $2,000 in tuition assistance per academic year, which is to be awarded one-half each term. In addition, children of full- time ministers in the United Methodist Church are granted partial tuition assistance in the amount of $3,500 per academic year. Children of full-time ministers of other faiths may receive partial tuition assistance in the amount of $2,000 per academic year. All of the ministerial tuition assistance programs require separate applications which may be obtained from the Financial Aid Office. Community College Scholarships Varies, renewable Awarded to community college students eligible to transfer to BSC. Selection is made on the basis of academic record, available test scores, and recommendations. Deadline: March 1 National Merit/National Achievement Scholarship

Jernigan Scholarship Renewable awards carrying a value of 90% of direct costs (tuition, fees, room/board and books); students must earn the other 10% of costs through work from June 1 to May 31 each year Criteria for selection include the following: 1. a demonstrated need for financial aid 2. superior academic achievement 3. outstanding character and potential for leadership 4. a strong personal work ethic as evidenced by a successful history of after-school and summer jobs 5. a willingness to earn ar least ten percent (10%) of his oe her total annual expenses (tuition, room and board) through workstudy and/or other employment. Recipients are expected to maintain a 3.00 or higher grade point average and to exhibit a high degree of integrity, a sense of individual responsibility, and a respect for conservative and traditional values. Other requirements and expectations are on file with the Office of Financial aid. FAULKNER UNIVERSITY Christian Camp Award Students who receive awards from Faulkner representatives at various Christian summer camps msay be granted a $500 per year award. Christian College Employee Award Award 50% of tuition cost This award is available to children of full-time employees of other post-secondary institutions affiliated with or supported substantially by churches of Christ. It is valid as long as the parent is employed on a full-time basis at another Christian University. Total award from all institutional scholarships may not exceed 50% of tuition cost. Satisfactory academic progress as stated in the catalog is required to maintain this award. Must apply for all federal and state aid available. Must provide verification of parent s employment Church of Christ Award

11 This non-need based award of $1,000 per year will be given to applicants who are active members of the church of Christ. At least one recommendation letter from a minister or elder of the student s congregation is required. Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes Award Participants in the Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes program who submit scholarship applications by the published deadline each year will be considered for this award. The National Office of Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes will recommend students to Faulkner who then may be awarded a scholarship. Award amounts vary from $250-$7,500 per year. National Merit Finalist/Semi-Finalist Scholarship Freshmen applicants only Must be confirmed as a National Merit Finalist or Semi-Finalist and have listed Faulkner University as their first choice university with the National Merit Corporation Finalists will receive funding equal to full tuition, room, board, and mandatory fees when coordinated with state, federal, and institutional scholarships and awards Semi-Finalists will receive funding equal to full tuition when coordinated with state, federal, and institutional scholarships and awards Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship May be awarded to Phi Theta Kappa members that are in good standing Must have at least 60 hours of transferable college credit with at least a 3.25 GPA Award amount: Up to $2,500 Transfer Scholarship Transfer applicants only College GPA of 3.00 and over Range: $3,000-$6,000 Pioneer Award Award $250-$500 This award is available to first time students who apply for admission before October 30, members of the church of Christ. Students may be granted $500. If application is received before December 1, then a $250 may be granted. Priority Award Award $500 This $500 non-need based award may be given to students that complete the filling of their FAFSA by March 15. University Award Award Varies The University grant may be awarded in varies amounts to students who demonstrate financial need as evidenced by the results of the yearly FAFSA.

HUNTINGTON COLLEGE Huntington College scholarships are normally awarded on an annual basis, with one-half of the annual amount of the scholarship being credited to the student s account during the first semester and the other half during the second semester. A student may generally receive only one merit scholarship under the Huntingdon Scholarship Program. Some exceptions do apply.
