1 6 th Annual lake county green People in Action Community, Business and Government Innovators Responding Locally to Global Challenges University Center of Lake County Grayslake, Illinois April 29, 2016 Presented by
2 Thank you for attending the 6 th annual Lake County Green conference, where you will join with others from the community, business and local government to explore different ways of being sustainable and discuss local responses to global environmental changes. What you will learn: How local leaders work with the United Nations to promote sustainable development How Lake County initiatives connect with regional climate projections How community members are promoting access to open space, clean air and local food What business leaders are doing to reduce their company s carbon footprint What local governments are doing to conserve and protect our natural resources What you can do at home, work and in your community to make a difference! Sustainable CLC The College of Lake County is committed to promoting sustainability as a strength in its identity. We are excited about several building and remodeling projects in the Sustainable Campus Master Plan that will be completed this summer. These include geothermal heating and cooling, energy efficient fixtures, solar hot water, student farm, bioswales and rain gardens. These energy-saving projects will become learning opportunities for students and community members, helping the campus to become a living laboratory. By hosting Lake County Green, CLC brings together community leaders to exchange ideas, prepare for the future and inspire action.
