1 YOUR PARTNERSHIP IS NEEDED! Dear Potential Corporate Partner: The National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) Detroit Chapter was incorporated on June 10, 1976 and has been the premier business organization for minority professionals in the Metro Detroit area. The mission of the NBMBAA Detroit Chapter is to champion diversity and inclusion initiatives with corporate partner and provide professional and personal development activities to our membership. All chapter operations are funded and supported by financial and in-kind contributions from profit and non-profit organizations to ensure the sustainability of the chapter. The Metro Detroit area benefits from the Chapter initiatives through our teen mentorship program, Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT), educational scholarships, community service and outreach, and the development of minority talent. Through many generous donations and sponsorships, the Detroit Chapter has awarded over $400,000 in educational scholarships. Your continued support is necessary for our chapter to continue our efforts. The Detroit Chapter is an award-winning chapter and currently one of the 10 largest chapters within the National Black MBA Association. We have several legacy leaders who have served as National Board members and who are sought after thought leaders in their respective industries. 4 National Black MBA Association Detroit Chapter Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) High School Student Mentoring Program Since 1992, the National Black MBA Association Detroit Chapter has provided mentors who coach students on a consistent basis in college preparation, academic success, leadership, public speaking, social engagement, networking, and goal setting to develop discipline, set and achieve high academic standards, and implement ways to serve their communities. Coached by Anthony Tony Moffett, for over ten years, the Detroit Chapter has mentored many Detroit area youth through our LOT Program. In 2016, the Detroit Chapter welcomed LaSonia Patterson-Bryant as our LOT Director. The hallmark of LOT is its intensity. Working with their mentors, high school students are encouraged to tackle challenges most other students wouldn t dare even approach, regardless of socio-economic circumstances, and overcome those challenges with a high degree of excellence. At the same time, LOT students learn how to be leaders - setting goals and high standards for themselves and their peers, and motivating others to follow their lead as they make a difference in their communities. Since 2002, the LOT National Business Case Competition has awarded more than $400,000 in scholarships and programming support. Through the Case Competition, these same students are exposed to NBMBAA mentors and coaches who work with them intensively for months. They are guaranteed the help and resources they need to thoroughly communicate the impact of their ideas. In the process, they develop the ability to draw connections between what they are learning in school and what it takes to be a successful leader and the discipline to set goals and achieve them. Most importantly, they develop the confidence that comes from believing you can accomplish anything. The Detroit Chapter covers all costs associated with bi-monthly meetings, travel and lodging expenses to Annual Case Competition and Success Boot Camp, and educational scholarships for all participants in the Detroit LOT Program. We are able to accomplish this solely with the support of our Corporate Donors.

C.) July 26, 1992 (Yonkers, New York) was one of the first African American graduates of Harvard Business School and is also credited with creating the concept of target marketing. Fitzhugh earned a full Scholarship to Harvard at the age of sixteen while still a student at Dunbar High School. Fitzhugh, intent on becoming a doctor, studied the sciences and graduated cum laude from Harvard University in Three years later, he earned his MBA from Harvard Business School (HBS), Class of '33. Despite his excellent academic performance, Fitzhugh could not find work in his field and returned to his native Washington, D.C., to teach a business course at Howard University. This was only supposed to be a temporary position, but Fitzhugh taught at Howard University for 31 years teaching marketing and management. At Howard, he developed the university's marketing program, organized its Small-Business Center and advised the student marketing association for many years. One of the many students whose business careers he influenced was his former (Howard University) research assistant, Lillian Lincoln Lambert, who was the first African-American woman to graduate from Harvard Business School In 1965, Fitzhugh accepted a marketing position at the Pepsi-Cola Company. He worked in establishing the African-American community as a lucrative mass market and created the concept of target marketing in corporate America. He eventually became Vice President for Special Markets at Pepsi. In 1974, Black Enterprise named him the "Dean of Black Business." Fitzhugh died at the age of 82 in July 1992 at New York University Medical Center. After his death, HBS established an endowed professorship in Fitzhugh s name. Pepsi also created a fellowship at Harvard University which enable students from Howard University and other historically and predominantly black colleges and universities to attend Harvard Business School.
