Institutional construction (post- doctoral school) and fellowship Programme (CommScie) Code: POSDRU/89/1.5/S/63663 Second competition for 92 post- doc fellowships In the period of May- June 2011 it will take place the second selection competition for attributing a number of postdoc felloships of 1000 Eur/month, in the frame of the project POSDRU/89/1.5/S/63663 Trans- national network of integrated management for post- doctoral research in the field of Science Communication. Institutional construction (post- doctoral school) and fellowship Programme (CommScie). A number of 92 post- doc fellowships will be assigned: 18 fellowships of 18 months, 45 fellowships of 12 months and 29 fellowships of 6 months, distributed among the partnersas following: University,,Alexandru Ioan Cuza Iasi and Institute of Romanian Philology,,A. Philippide Iasi: 23 fellowships; University,,Babeş- Bolyai, Cluj- Napoca: 21 fellowships; West University Timisoara: 5 fellowships; University,,Petru Maior, Târgu- Mureş: 22 fellowships; Università degli Studi di Genova, Italia: 21 fellowships. The fields of interest for the applications are: D1- Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, D2- Information science and Engineering, D3 - Life and earth sciences (including Medicine) and D4 Humanistic and Social sciences. For the University of Genoa applications are possible for D1 and D2 fields only.

2 Calendar: Registration of candidates (presentation of documents): 6 th June 2011 Competition: June 7 th - 8 th, 2011 Appeal and claims: June 10 th, 2011 Final results: June 11 th, 2011 General conditions of eligibility: Maximum age: 40 years within the expiry date of the selection; PhD degree, obtained within the expiring date of the selection (if the title was obtained abroad, the title should be recognized in Romania by CNRED decision, before starting the fellowship programme: Citizenship of a EU country; Not beneficiary of funds from another FSE- POS- DRU Programme Admission requirements for participation to the selection: Application drawn up to the form attached to the present notice (Appendix A) together with: copy of the Identity Card or Passport. PhD diploma copy (legalized for the selected candidates); CV (Europass format); Supporting documents for the CV (copies of selected papers, etc.); Two presentations letters (e.g. from the PhD adviser, former co- ordinator of his/her research activity, etc.); Research project (maximum 2 pages) The candidate should present the acceptation of a group/laboratory research (from the scientific supervisor) of the institution where he/she will apply. 3 Competition procedure 1. Preliminary Selection verification of eligibility. 2. Proposed research project (maximum 2 pages) (the evaluation will be done according to the Documents for the evaluation of the project see Annex) and according to the quality of previous scientific research as demonstrated by CV. Interview The interviews will take place either at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi or in the other universities of the consortium. Alternatively the interviews can take place on- line. Representatives from other universities might participate to the selection as members of the commission, according to their scientific area. Selection The selection commission will include representatives from other partners involved in the project, in the field of interest. The scientific co- ordinators (supervisors, tutors) might be members of the selection commission. The candidates will be selected according to the obtained total score. The candidates will choose maximum two types of fellowships in the moment of selection. In case the candidate does not reach the necessary score for the first option, he/she might be selected for a second option fellowship, according to the obtained score. If the available positions will be not occupied after the first selection, new selection procedures will be subsequently organized. In addition to the winners of the competition, two other names will be included in the list in case the first selected candidates would renounce to their position. Performance criteria to be accomplished by the selected fellows during the project For the fellowships of 18 months: 1 article published in Journals quoted in ISI Web of Science system or in a recognised international Journal 2 participations to national or international conferences with scientific works; 2 communications or publications with specific character of dissemination scientific information for non- specialists); progress reports every 6 months and cumulative final report validated by a scientific commission; participation to courses of scientific formation (inter- and trans- disciplinary); participation to at least one mobility of maximum 6 months during the project; collaboration with Romanian groups is strongly recommended. For 12 months fellowships: 1 article published in Journals quoted in ISI Web of Science system or in a recognized international Journal; 1 participations to national or international conferences with scientific works; one communication or publication with specific character of dissemination scientific

4 information for non- specialists); progress report at 6 months and cumulative final report validated by a scientific commission; participation to courses of scientific formation (inter- and trans- disciplinary); participation to at least one mobility of maximum 6 months during the project; collaboration with Romanian groups is strongly recommended. For 6 months fellowships: one published or accepted article in Journals quoted in ISI Web of Science system or in a recognised international Journal; one participation to national or international conferences with scientific works participation to courses of scientific formation (inter- and trans- disciplinary); scientific report validated by a scientific commission; participation to at least one mobility of maximum 5 months during the project collaboration with Romanian groups is strongly recommended. Financial support Monthly allowance of Eur; Allowance for the mobility period is 500 Eur per month. This amount can be additional to other funds, including the present post- doc allowance. Evaluation formula The final score vote will be calculated as the average mark consisting of: the score for the previous scientific activity according to the relevant documents presented by the candidate, the score for the proposed research project and score obtained for the interview. G1. Scientific activity = max. 25 points; G2. Research project = max. 45 points; G3. Interview = max. 30 points.
