1 Endowed Scholarships CHAPTER SPECIFIC In addition to the general scholarships available, students may apply for the scholarships below restricted by. Scholarships are for fully initiated members of Sigma Alpha MuFraternity. 3 Charles E. Gettleman Memorial Scholarship: Created in memory of Charles E. Gettleman (Rutgers 36) by his sons Lawrence (Rutgers 59 and advisor of Sigma Gamma/Tulane for several years) and Robert Criteria: Member of Sigma Delta/Rutgers with demonstrated leadership and financial need. Academic average not to be considered. Criteria: Undergraduate frates at Sigma Theta with financial need. Preference to business majors. Amount: $500 Gary Gotlieb Memorial Scholarship: To remember Gary Gotlieb (Sigma Theta 86) & Sigma Theta, this scholarship was endowed by Gary s family & Sigma Theta alumni Criteria: Financial need & leadership; minimum GPA of 2.75 Amount: $1700 SIGMA IOTA (Michigan) Available to other s while Sigma Iota is dormant Robert S. Smith Memorial Scholarship: This award was endowed in honor of Leonard H. Smith, Mu Theta 48, a founding member of his, by his son, Dr. Robert A. Smith, Mu Theta 70 and his fellow Mu Theta fratres. Criteria: Demonstrated financial need Open To: Undergraduate frater, sophomore and above, with preference to Mu Theta Harry and Harriet Stone Scholarship: Endowed by past Foundation Director Scott Stone (Mu Theta) in honor of his parents Criteria: Graduate or undergraduate fratres of Mu Theta Open To: Fratres of the Mu Theta, preference for Cinematic Arts major (if none, then no preference for major) and officers (with need secondary to service), preference for living in the house, secondary preference to graduate students in Cinematic arts Axelrod Family Scholarship: Endowed by Sigma Zeta fratres Leonard Axelrod and his brother Mark in memory of their parents Morris and Doris Axelrod Criteria: Financial need with GPA of 3.0 or higher and preparing for a career in law, criminal justice, business or literature/creative arts. Open To; Mu Theta Marc P. Goodman Memorial Scholarship Criteria: Demonstrated active interest in the Fraternity, demonstrated financial need, B average or equivalent Open To: Undergraduate frater with junior status with preference to Mu Rho Ira & Karen Selss Scholarship Criteria: TBA Amount: $1,000 MU PSI (Miami OH) Mom" Keene Scholarship Criteria: In good standing of the Mu Psi, living in (or has lived in for at least 1 year) the Fraternity house with a 3.0 GPA Open To: Undergraduate frater from Mu Psi Jerry Miller Scholarship Criteria: Demonstrated significant academic achievement and contribution to the Mu Psi Open To: Undergraduate frater who has been a member of the Fraternity for at least one year, and a member in good standing with Mu Psi and who must reside in the Fraternity house Joel & Keith Levy Accounting Scholarship: Endowed by Joel Levy (Mu Psi/Miami Univ 75) and his brother Keith (Mu Psi/Miami Univ 74) Criteria: For a member of Mu Psi/Miami Univ majoring in accounting; financial need considered Amount: $500 BETA OMEGA (Kentucky Wesleyan) William Gilliam Scholarship Criteria: Demonstrated financial need and 3.0/4.0 GPA Open To: Junior or senior from Beta Omega GAMMA EPSILON (Illinois Chicago Circle) David S. Schmidt Memorial Scholarship: Endowed by the Schmidt family in memory of their son Jonathan (StonyBrook 05) a biomedical engineering major Criteria: Demonstrated leadership, scholarship and service to others. Preference to biomedical engineers. Designated For: A member of Delta Theta, undergrad or alumnus in graduate school Amount: $1300 Tau (Alabama) Tau Educational Scholarship: Created by Gil Yanuck (Tau/Alabama 62) to honor the return of the Tau Criteria: Financial need and leadership as well as academics Designated For: Members of Tau/Alabama Mu Chi (Michigan State) Steven Dachinger Memorial Scholarship Criteria: Financial need, frater who exhibits an understanding of brotherhood and family and exemplifies the spirit and purpose of Sigma Alpha Mu Open To: Undergraduate frater in good standing with Sigma Gamma, Mu Chi, Gamma Phi Page 7 of 10 Updated 17 December 2015

8 SCHOLARSHIPS FOR CANADIAN FRATRES Bora Laskin Scholarship: This award was endowed by ΣAM Foundation of Canada in memory of outstanding Canadian brother Bora Laskin (Toronto 35). Criteria: Financial need, good academic and Fraternity standing, campus activities may be taken into account Open To: Preference to second year or above undergraduate Canadian fratre attending either a Canadian or U.S. school Pauline & Albert Pattenick Scholarship: This award was endowed by ΣAM Foundation of Canada in memory of outstanding Canadian brother Bora Laskin (Toronto 40) and his wife. Criteria: Financial need, cumulative average sufficient, if maintained, to lead to a degree Open To: Preference to second year or above undergraduate Canadian fratre attending either a Canadian or U.S. school Amount:$1000 Samuel Gotfrid Scholarship: This award was endowed by ΣAM Foundation of Canada in memory of outstanding Canadian brother Samuel Gotfrid (Toronto 29).
