1 Freshman Scholarships Renewable Scholarships Bishop Dwenger Alumni Scholarship This scholarship has been established through the generosity of Bishop Dwenger Alumni. Two $1,000 scholarships For students who are the son or daughter of a Bishop Dwenger alumnus/a Bob Eifert Memorial Scholarship This scholarship has been established in memory of Bob Eifert, by his wife and children. Two $500-$800 scholarships awarded every four years For students who are active members of a Catholic parish in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend The George Lebamoff Scholarship This scholarship has been established by Chuck McNulty in honor of the positive impact George had on his life. J. Fred Tone Scholarship This scholarship has been established in honor of the school s second lay principal. The John Lehman Scholarship This scholarship has been established by Chuck McNulty in honor of the positive impact John had on his life.

2 Josie and Henry Schmitt Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established by in memory of his parents, Josie and Henry Schmitt. Applicant must be interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) or a skilled trade such pipefitter/welder, automation, electrician, millwright Renewable if recipient maintains an A/B average The Leland Boren Scholarship This scholarship has been established by Chuck McNulty in honor of the positive impact Leland had on his life. Marguerite Schenkel Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established by the family of Marguerite Schenkel, in her memory. Renewable if recipient maintains a C average Mastrangelo Family Scholarship This scholarship has been established by Dr. and Mrs. Michael Mastrangelo. One scholarship, may be up to a full-tuition scholarship McKibben Family Scholarship The McKibben Family Scholarships were established in 2008 by Doug McKibben and his wife, Chris. They had four children graduate from Bishop Dwenger. Two $2,500 scholarships awarded every four years For students who are active members of a Catholic parish in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend Renewable if recipients maintain a B average

3 Melissa Koors Memorial Scholarship This scholarship has been established by family and friends in memory of Melissa Koors 97. Michael and Kathy Panther Family Scholarship This scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Michael Panther whose two sons graduated from Bishop Dwenger. Michael was a former school board member and Kathy taught in Catholic schools. awarded every four years For a student who is a graduate of a Catholic grade school The Mike Fisher Scholarship This scholarship has been established by Chuck McNulty in honor of the positive impact Mike had on his life. Robert and Jane Sunderland Memorial Scholarship This scholarship has been established in memory of Robert & Jane Sunderland whose children attended Bishop Dwenger High School. For a student who is an active member of a Catholic parish in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend and whose family has four or more children Stephen Weissert Memorial Scholarship This scholarship has been established in memory of Stephen Weissert 75. For a student who is an active member of a Catholic parish in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend Renewable if recipient maintains a B- average

4 Tim Zimmerman Memorial Scholarship This scholarship has been established in memory of Tim Zimmerman 67. The Tom Boyd Scholarship This scholarship has been established by Chuck McNulty in honor of the positive impact Tom had on his life. Non-Renewable scholarships Brian Penisten Memorial Scholarship This scholarship has been established in memory of Brian Penisten 93. Applicant must have a C average to be eligible Gillig Family Scholarship This scholarship has been established by the family of David and Mary Gillig. for a student from St. Jude s Applicant must have a C+ average to be eligible James R. Shields Scholarship This scholarship has been established by James R. Shields, a long-time supporter of Bishop Dwenger High School. Three to six $1,000 scholarships Applicant must have a C average to be eligible

5 The Maxine and James Poinsatte Memorial Scholarship The Poinsatte family started this scholarship in memory of Maxine and Jim Poinsatte and their love of Bishop Dwenger High School and Catholic education. Ten of their twelve children, as well as numerous grandchildren, have attended Bishop Dwenger. Two $500 scholarships Applicant must have a positive attitude, strong in his/her spirituality, good citizenship, and good academics Applicant must also submit a letter of recommendation from his/her parish priest John Gaughan Scholarship This scholarship has been established in honor of the school s first lay principal. Two $500 scholarships For students who are active members of a Catholic parish in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend Applicant must have a C+ average to be eligible Monsignor J. William Lester Scholarship This scholarship has been established in honor, and in memory, of former school superintendent Msgr. J. William Lester, a long-time supporter of Catholic education in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend. For a student who is an active member of a Catholic parish in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend Applicant must have a C+ average to be eligible Richard E. Lee Scholarship This scholarship was established by Chuck McNulty 82. Applicant must have a C average to be eligible Richard J. Krouse Scholarship This scholarship was established in honor of the school s first Athletic Director. Applicant must have a B average to be eligible

6 The Shirley and Anthony Wagner Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established in memory of Tony and Shirley Wagner, by their 7 children and 22 grandchildren. Number of scholarships and amounts vary by year. Typically, 1 or 2 scholarships up to $1,000 each for freshman; and 1 to 3 scholarships up to $2,000 each for upperclass students Applicant must be involved in parish, preferably as an altar server Preference will be given to sophomore through senior students who have received the Mother Teresa Award for service Applicant must have a B average to be eligible Winkeljohn Family Scholarships These scholarships were established by Bob and Diane Winkeljohn in honor of their six children who all graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School. and three $500 scholarships For students who are members of Queen of Angels parish and are graduates of Queen of Angels grade school or its religious education program Applicant must have a B average to be eligible Jeanine Winkeljohn Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established in 2013 in memory of Jeanine by her husband, Terry 84 and their children, Greta 15 and Peter 17. For a St. Vincent de Paul student with a B average or better. Winkler Family Foundation Scholarship Catholic education is very important to Mr. and Mrs. Winkler. All four of their children graduated from BDHS and their goal is to help two students, and their families, attend Bishop Dwenger who might not otherwise have been able to attend.
