Please review the criteria for each scholarship and complete the necessary application forms. Deadline for submitting forms to the HS Guidance-Counseling Center is Friday, February 9 th. 1. Need and Merit Based Scholarships (Your child must submit this form in order to be considered for ANY need or merit based scholarships). 2. Community Scholarships (Your child must submit this form in order to be considered for any community based scholarships). 3. High School PTSA Scholarship (Your child must submit this form in order to be considered for any PTA Scholarships). 4. The Ben Lang Memorial Scholarship 5. The Ross Kreines Athletic Scholarship 6. 6 THE ROSS KREINES ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP As a result of the Ross Kreines Athletic Fund, two scholarships will be awarded to student athletes: one male, one female, who have demonstrated leadership, unselfishness, dedication, courage, and perseverance. List the athletic programs you participated in while in high school. Please list 3 ways you have demonstrated courage and/or perseverance as an athlete.

7 THE SAM SPRINGER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Sam Springer served on Jericho s Board of Education for thirteen years. Mr. Springer was known for his forthright direction as President of Jericho s Board of Education. His deep commitment to Jericho s young people was characterized by his attendance and participation at school functions: athletic events, plays, concerts, assemblies. Please state how you have participated in co-curricular programs (athletic events, plays, contests, assemblies). Please list 3 ways in which you feel your involvement in the cocurricular programs has helped you improve as a student.

8 COACH JOSEPH FARRELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Counseling Center by Friday, February 9 th. The Coach Joseph Farrell Memorial Scholarship Fund will award a $500 scholarship to one senior female and one senior male student who: - Participates on a varsity team at Jericho High School - Exhibits leadership and sportsmanship Sport: Coach: Criteria: - A character reference (in writing) from the athletic coach. This should not be a testament to the student s athletic abilities but rather a description of the person s character and the contribution he or she makes to the team. - Applicants must respond to the following quotation with a one to two page essay. 9 JERICHO ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP The Jericho Athletic Association will award a $500 scholarship to one senior female and one senior male student who have: - participated in interscholastic athletics in grades demonstrated a serious commitment towards academic excellence. - performed school or community. - participated in the Jericho Athletic Association (JAA) various sports programs List your major involvement in athletics during grades Include any leadership positions held.
