1 TRI~TOWN ROTARY CLUB 2015 Scholarship Application Tri-Town Rotary is currently accepting applications for its 2014 Scholarship Awards. Completed applications are due by Friday, April 17, The Tri~Town Rotary Club will award three academic scholarships of $2, each. Additionally, Tri~Town Rotary Club members would like to recognize and support a graduate who will be entering the workplace and/or enrolled in an apprentice or vocational training program. This $500 award will be presented along with the academic scholarships at the club s May 19, 2015 luncheon meeting. We anticipate notifying recipients of their award by Friday May 8, 2015 and celebrating their achievement at the weekly Rotary meeting on Tuesday May 19 th. Both recipients and their parents will be guests of the Club. Scholarships are open to all high school seniors who are residents of Lee, Lenox, Stockbridge or a Southern Berkshire Community without a Rotary Club and attend Lee, Lenox or Monument Mountain Regional high schools. Residents of Great Barrington or Pittsfield should apply for the scholarships at their community s Rotary Club. Students whose parents are current members of a Rotary Club are not eligible for scholarships. Emphasis for Rotary Scholarships is placed on community service. Therefore, we encourage students with a record of service to apply, regardless of their academic record. Scholarships are awarded for any post-secondary training or educational program. The Committee will appreciate applications that are well presented with attention paid to grammar, punctuation, spelling, and attention to detail. 2. Attach a letter of recommendation from ONE of the following (this letter should not be submitted by a teacher or guidance counselor unless h/she meets the following criteria): (a) Adult leader or coach of a school-sponsored activity of which you were a part; (b) Adult leader or coach of a non-school related activity of which you were a part; (c) Adult supervisor, manager or employer for whom you have worked. 3. Attach a well-written essay in which you capture your reason(s) for applying for this scholarship by discussing the following: - your volunteer efforts in the community - your community/church activities; - your reasons and objectives for continuing your education. 4. Include a copy of your high school transcript including SAT scores. 5. Optional: Detail any circumstance (not otherwise mentioned in this application) present in your life that the committee should consider when reviewing your academic standing, financial need, and/or your community service.
