It has been a great Rotary year and we want to send him off in style. President Booker has entertained us weekly with interesting renditions from some of his favorite musicals and other productions. For additional information, please contact the Rotary office at You may sign up for as many as you wish Rotary Club of Little Rock Committee Descriptions RY Broyles Award Event Date: Coach s Reception Monday, December 7, 2015; Banquet Tuesday, December 8, 2015 Work Timeline: July December The Broyles Award is the only national award of any kind that originates from the state of Arkansas and is named after legendary Razorback Head Coach and Athletic Director Frank Broyles. Objective: Secures funding for the annual event. Oversees ticket sales to optimize attendance. Works with selection committee on nominations and winner selection. Makes plans to host coaches and spouses in Little Rock. Business & Professional Leader of the Year Award

3 Presentation Date: May 2016 Work Timeline: January - May Objective: To solicit nominations and make selection of the Business & Professional Leader Award. Coordinates a program at a Rotary luncheon to appropriately recognize recipient. College Scholarships Presentation Date: April 2016 Work Timeline: January April Objective: Working with the appropriate offices of central Arkansas institutions of higher education, this Committee administers the scholarship program to select worthy students. Committee members solicit applicants does a review and makes the selection on behalf of the club. Committee oversees program at a Rotary meeting to recognize with a presentation the winners. Committee will make personal contacts with each recipient and coordinate guest attendance at the meeting. Essay/Oratorical Presentation Date: April 2016 Work Timeline: November April Objective: Organizes and implements an annual contest program in the junior high and /or senior high schools to promote good writing and speaking skills. The committee develops the theme for the essays and contacts the schools/school district coordinator for implementation of the contest in the schools. Family of Rotary Work Timeline: Year-long Objective: Promotes fellowship and friendship through contact with families of Rotarians and former Rotarians including recognizing significant events, including deaths, illness of Rotarians and other occasions as the committee deems important. Greeters Work Timeline: Year long Staffs the badge boxes, visitor sign-in table and welcome attendees. Duties include handing out name badges to members and registering all guests. Members must be able to arrive early to meetings. Involves new members as greeters and schedules their participation. Interact/R.E.A.C.H. Club at Catholic High Work Timeline: September May Objective: To expose teenagers to Rotary in hopes they are motivated to join Rotary. Committee supports activities of the R.E.A.C.H., Reaching Everyone at Catholic High, Interact Club. Provides ideas for speakers and helps with service projects. In conjunction with RYLA Committee, solicits and selects candidates for District 6150 Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) Camp. Literacy Dictionary Delivery Day Delivery Date: September 2015 Work Timeline: June September Objective: To encourage young children to value literacy and to appreciate learning and good books. Rotary Club 99 Foundation funds the purchase of dictionaries for over 2,500 LR School District 3rd Graders for "Dictionary Day". We also provide three age appropriate books to each of the 29 LR Elementary Schools libraries. Nearly 75 Rotarians spent two hours on weekday morning in September visiting the elementary schools and reading to each 3rd grade class. They are told about Rotary and pass out dictionaries to each child. The children then look up

4 words in "their very own" dictionary. We then read a story to each class from one of the three books provided to the school library. Committee members are active in the selection of reading books, solicitation of volunteers and preparation of books and materials. Member Engagement Work Timeline: Ongoing Objective: To Develops and implements a program to involve new members in Club 99, including Information and Orientation programs that cover the information of Rotary U and the traditions of Club 99. Provides new members with the tools needed to get involved in Club activities, including activities of every committee. Membership Recruitment Timeline: Ongoing Coordinates the recruitment of new members to Club 99. Committee members solicit recommendations for new members, confirm application information, and provide information to the board of directors regarding membership mentoring and new member involvement. Not Ready for Prime Time Players Event Date: Presidential Send Off, June 2016 Work Timeline: April June Committee plans for the year-end presentation to honor and thank the current Rotary President. Actors, singers, directors, producers, musicians, writers all talent welcome! Ottenheimer International Youth Project Visit Dates: August September, 2015 Work Timeline: January August Developed to promote International Goodwill and Friendship, one of the elements of the 4-Way Test, this is the longest-standing committee in Club 99. Each year two students from countries outside the United States are invited to visit Arkansas to study our culture. The Committee is responsible for selection of country and selection of students in cooperation with the invited country s District and Club. Members are also responsible for planning activities and accommodations for students while in Arkansas. Police & Fire Awards Event Date: March 2016 Work Timeline: January March Provides for and implements a forum for the Little Rock Police and Little Rock Fire Departments to present awards to officers and firefighters who have distinguished themselves during the year. Each department develops the criteria for their awards. The Committee coordinates the details of a luncheon program, secures donations, and provides appropriate awards for recipients. Rotary District 6150 Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Event Date: April 2016 Work Timeline: January - February Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is promoted throughout Rotary District 6150, it is a 3 ½ day camp designed as a challenging program of leadership training, discussions, inspirational addresses, social activities and cultural awareness for high school students. The overall goal is to enhance personal development, leadership skills and good citizenship. RYLA meets in April at Ferncliff. Average attendance is thirty-five high school students chosen for their leadership qualities and sponsored by Rotary Clubs. The committee recruits and selects students to attend the District 6150 Camp for Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA). Provides support for the student(s) including transportation to/from.

5 Rotary International Foundation Work Timeline: Year Long Committee is responsible for overseeing and ensuring club members are informed about The Rotary (International) Foundation. Its mission and purpose and the club s commitment to donations. Committee will develop and implement a plan to meet the club s annual pledge goal. Rotary Youth Exchange Work Timeline: Year Long A program for students of secondary school and/or college age for study and travel abroad in a specific period during the year. Committee responsibilities include recruiting students to participate and coordinating activities for visiting youths from the partner exchange country. Each club in District 6150 is requested to provide housing and activities for 1-2 days during a six-week exchange. Committee works in conjunction with District project coordinator. Veterans Recognition Program Event Date: November 10, 2015 Work Timeline: July November Plans for an appropriate program to honor Veterans. Plans can include a service project and committee will select the annual Honoring Heroes award.
