2 Tsung Han Wu 30 July 2014 Chapter Activities: Chapter Officer Election (Date: 2014/2/1) The meeting for the selection of chapter officers was held on February 1, Ci Yao Jheng was elected President of the chapter. Wei-Chih Liu was selected as Vice President Invited Presentations (Date: 2013/10/01) Dr. Motofumi Suzuki is an associate professor at Kyoto University. He received his bachelor, master and doctor of engineering degrees from Kyoto University in 1986, 1988 and 1998, re- spectively. He studies thin film nano-structures and -morphologies expecting the novel properties related them. Especially, he is now interested in the optical and mechanical properties of thin films with tailored nanomorphologies prepared by dynamic oblique deposition (DOD). Prof. Suzuki is a member of SPIE, AVS, The Physical Society of Japan, The Japan Society of Applied Physics, The Surface Science Society of Japan, The Vacuum Society of Japan, The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. Awards and Honors Award of the Journal of Vacuum Society of Japan, 2012 Best Oral Presentation at The Nanostructred Thin Films V conference in SPIE Optics+Photonics 2012, MMS Award, Tanaka Precious Metals, 2006 MMS Award, Tanaka Precious Metals, 2005 International Metallographic Contest, CLASS 4: Electron Microscopy - Scanning, Honorable Mention, International Metallographic Society, nd Metallographic Contest of The Japan Institute of Metals, 3rd place Seven papers have been selected in AIP s Virtual Journal of Nanoscale Science & Technology.

4 The Research exchange workshop - Shizuoka University Engineering student Group and National Taipei University of Technology (Date: 2013/10/14) The research exchange workshop with Shizuoka University Engineering student Group in National Taipei University of Technology. In the research exchange workshop, there are six students from Shizuoka University came to our school. The SPIE student chapter of NTUT form a research exchange workshop and share both experience.

8 Invited Presentations (Date: 2013/11/26) Akhlesh Lakhtakia received degrees from the Banaras Hindu University (B.Tech. & D.Sc.) and the University of Utah (M.S. & Ph.D.), in electronics engineering and electrical engineering, respectively. He is the Charles Godfrey Binder (Endowed) Professor of Engineering science and Mechanics at the Pennsylvania State University. He is a Fellow of SPIE, Optical Society of America, American Association for the Advancement of Sciences, American Physical Society, and Institute of Physics (UK). He is founding editor-in-chief of Journal of Nanophotonics published by SPIE. His current research interests include nanotechnology, plasmonics, engineered biomimicry, complex materials, metamaterials, and sculptured thin films. 13 SPIE Student Chapter meeting in in National Taiwan University with Dr. Eugene G. Arthurs (SPIE CEO) (Date: 2013/12/2) The SPIE Student Chapter meeting held in National Taiwan University. There are three student chapters (National Taiwan Univ. Chapter, National Taipei Univ. of Technology Chapter and National Taiwan Ocean University Chapter) attended this meeting. Our officer Mr. Meng-Jie Lin reported the activities of National Taipei Univ. of Technology Chapter to Dr. Eugene G. Arthurs.
