PURPOSE This policy defines the Graduate Program Scholarship award process in the School of Nursing. II. ACCOUNTABILITY Under the direction of the Dean, the Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs shall ensure compliance with this policy. The Business Administrator shall implement this policy. III. BACKGROUND To prepare and train for future leaders in the nursing profession, the School of Nursing provides internal funding to support students enrolled in the DNP and Post- BSN-to-DNP programs. IV. POLICY Students currently enroll in the DNP and Post-BSN-to-DNP programs who meet the criteria are eligible to apply for the graduate program leadership scholarship. All applications shall be reviewed by the scholarship committee and the selection and the awarded amount shall be based upon the number and level of excellence of applicants as well as the availability of funds. V. PROCEDURE 1. Eligibility criteria: Applicant must be enrolled in the DNP or Post-BSN-to-DNP program Applicant must submit scholarship application Applicant must have a GPA of 3.5 or above Applicant must submit a concise essay (maximum 3 pages) describing financial need, community service activities and leadership experience DNP and Post-BSN-to-DNP applicants can be in any semester of study to receive the award 2. Condition: Accepting this scholarship requires a commitment to engage in mentoring and/or leadership activities within the School of Nursing. Applicants shall submit the application form and the essay to the Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs by the deadline as follows: Fall July 15 Spring November 15 Summer March The scholarship committee shall review the applications and make recommendations to the Dean. Upon review and approval by the Dean, the final selection shall be made prior to the start of each semester. 5. Students receiving the award shall be notified in writing. A list of the awardees with the awarded amount shall be provided to the SN Business Office for disbursement. 6. The SN Business Office shall forward the scholarship information to the RBHS Business Office for funds to be applied to the awardees accounts. 7. Any undisbursed funding shall be maintained in a designated scholarship account in the Restricted Fund as permitted by the RBHS. In addition, please note that ALL Graduate Program Scholarship recipients are required to engage in mentoring and/or leadership activities within the School of Nursing.
