3 The NA DAAD is firmly committed to the continuation of Erasmus+ in the proven programme architecture and, while retaining the overarching objectives and including current thematic priorities, an increased budget tailored to need. The current Erasmus+ Programme is to be optimised taking into consideration essential consistency. The transition to a robust successor programme should be characterised by consolidation and stability. In order to increase the impact of the programme and the public perception of it, NA DAAD also recommends the following additional measures for the new programme generation 3
4 Strengthen the impact of Erasmus+ using virtual formats Linguistic, content and cultural preparation and follow-up, as well as accompanying stays abroad through blended learning formats Achieving new target groups through a combination of digital formats and short-term stays abroad Internationalization@home 4
5 Support universities in their societal role at a local and regional level Support for short-term measures at universities in order to be able to react to current events Promoting grassroots initiatives to strengthen the European idea (e.g. Europa macht Schule) Decentralization of selected Jean Monnet actions 5
6 Exploit the potential of alumni Re-invitations, seminars and discourses on professional and socio-political / European topics Strengthening internationalization@home Stronger ties of former participants to the program 6
7 Make approaches appropriate to the target group and simplify access Simplified access to the program through target group-specific addressing Design of manuals, guides, databases and processes from the user's point of view Facilitate better access to the program for new users 7
8 Expand the international cooperation of higher education beyond Erasmus+ Strengthening the international dimension of the program Flexibilization of funding rules and more attractive funding rates Development of innovative forms of cooperation with industrialized countries, e.g. in the context of strategic partnerships and by creating synergies between education & research Reintroduction of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral degrees 8
9 Increase funding Adequate funding, which goes well beyond the volume of the previous program generation In order to maintain the financing level of the year 2020, an increase of at least 40% compared to the predecessor program is required 9
