1 1.Boston Middle School Student Council Scholarship The Boston Middle School Student Council is offering a scholarship to a senior who attended Boston Middle School for at least one year and graduated from LPHS. Applicants must have some community service involvement, good citizenship and good attendance. 2. Boston Middle School PTSA The Boston Middle School PTSA is offering a scholarship to a senior who attended Boston Middle School. 3. Ruth Andrew Coffeen Creative Writing Scholarship The Ruth Andrew Coffeen Creative Writing Scholarship is awarded to a student who has been accepted by an accredited college or university, and has enrolled in a degree program such as English, Journalism or Creative Writing, designed to develop creative writing skills. 4. Crichfield Elementary PTA Scholarship A scholarship will be awarded to a senior who has attended a major part of his/her elementary education at Crichfield Elementary School. 5. Jamie L. Day Memorial Thespian Scholarship Tau Sigma Chi is pleased to announce the creation of the Jamie L. Day Memorial Thespian Scholarship. This scholarship is offered to all seniors who have performed in or worked on the Theater Arts productions of LPHS. To qualify the student must be accepted in an accredited university or college and seeking a degree in theater arts. Proof of enrollment must be submitted to receive the scholarship monies. Once chosen as a scholarship winner, a student may reapply each year thereafter while seeking an undergraduate degree as long as a B average is maintained in his/her course of study.

Dick Deardorff Scholarship The Slicer Football Association is offering a scholarship to a graduating senior who lettered in football and track and plans to participate in either sport in college. The applicant should be active in other extracurricular activities, demonstrated leadership and have maintained a 2.5 GPA. Proof of enrollment in an accredited school must be submitted. 7. Girl Reserves Scholarship The Girl Reserves awards scholarships to senior club members. Recipients must be active members who qualified their senior year. 8. Hailmann Elementary PTO Scholarship The Hailmann School PTO offers two (2), 2 $ scholarships to seniors that have attended Hailmann School at least 4 years and graduated from Hailmann School. Also include a composition of 250 words or less, on the subject, How did your experience at Hailmann Elementary School influence your education. Proof of college enrollment must be submitted prior to receiving scholarship money. Kesling Middle School PTSA Scholarship The Kesling Middle School PTSA awards two (2) scholarships annually to LPHS seniors who attended Kesling Middle School for at least one year, and graduated from Kesling. The criteria for selection are a minimum 3.0 GPA, school and community involvement, and a brief essay. Proof of college or university enrollment is required prior to disbursement of scholarship money. Kesling Middle School Student Council Scholarship The Kesling Middle School Student Council is awarding scholarships to senior students who have attended Kesling Middle School for at least one year and will graduate from LaPorte High School. Students must have an accrued cumulative GPA of 3.0 ( B ) or higher. Applicant selection will be based on character of the student, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and good citizenship. Applicants must have been a member of Kesling Student Council for at least one year. 14. Kingsbury Elementary School KPT Scholarship Kingsbury graduates who are furthering their education in some way trade school, beauty school, college, nurse s training, etc., are eligible for this scholarship.

Kingsford Heights Elementary PTA Scholarship A grade school graduate of Kingsford Heights Elementary School is offered a scholarship according to the following factors: Minimum of a C GPA Already accepted in a college or trade school Number of other scholarships available to student Family size Any other family situation that is unique Activities, honors, awards and interests Number of children already in college and at home An indication that the applicant has worked and saved monies for their education 16. Kiwanis Club Scholarship The Kiwanis Club of La Porte offers a scholarship to a graduating senior in good standing who plans to continue his/her education after high school. Applicants must have: Minimum 3.5 GPA Demonstrated good citizenship as shown by school and community service Financial need Applicants must MAIL PRIOR to the application deadline the following: A composition of 250 words or less, on the subject, What Community Service Means to Me, must be completed. On the same page of your composition, please include one paragraph that details your community involvement outside of school activities, the number of organizations that you volunteer for and the number of hours spent annually spent on these activities. These activities should not be something that you receive compensation for and that are performed outside of school (not required for a class or part of an athletic activity). The applicant must have played Babe Ruth Baseball in La Porte for three years and plans to continue his education in a junior college, trade school, business school, or a four-year college/university. 18. La Porte ESP Association Scholarship La Porte Education Support Professional Association is offering a scholarship to a graduating senior who is attending any two or four year college, vocational, trade or a technical school. Qualifications include: Must show some financial need Have a 2.5 or better GPA Must show proof of enrollment Must be the child or grandchild of a support professional employed by LaPorte Community School Corporation Good attendance record 19. La Porte Federation of Teachers Memorial Scholarship The La Porte Federation of Teachers, Local 714, is offering one-year scholarships to LPHS seniors whose parents are current members of the LFT, Local La Porte Knights of Columbus St. Michael s Council #1542 will award a scholarship to a child or grandchild of a member in good standing. Selection will be based on community and church service activities.

6 21. La Porte Lions Club Scholarship The La Porte Lions Club awards three (3) scholarships annually. There is no restriction regarding courses to be pursued or schools to attend as long as they are of college level. Applicants must have: Minimum 3.5 GPA Demonstrated good citizenship as shown by school and community service Financial need Member in good standing of Leo Club 22. La Porte High School Leo Club Scholarship The La Porte High School Leo Club awards one (1) scholarship annually to active Leo Club Members who are in good standing. There is no restriction regarding courses to be pursued or school attended as long as they are of college level. Applicants much have: Minimum 3.5 GPA Demonstrated good citizenship as shown by school and community service Financial need 23. La Porte Professional Firefighters Association Scholarship La Porte Fire Fighters Local #363 offers a scholarship to students planning to attend or already enrolled in a vocational/trade school or college. Students must be in the upper half of their high school or college class. Financial need of applicants is of utmost consideration.

La Porte Service League Scholarship The La Porte Service League will award scholarships to LPHS seniors who plan to major in college in theater, music, radio or television direction or production, communications, voice, or other fine arts related fields. La Porte Service League is an organization whose contributions of time, abilities and artistry are dedicated to the enrichment of our community. Each essay and addendum must be postmarked before Friday, February 16, 2018: One page essay explaining how you have personally enriched our community throughout your high school career and how this has influenced you as a person and your future endeavors. Students must complete an addendum. This is a separate page from the Common Scholarship Application. The addendum must be obtained from the Guidance Office and submitted via mail with the essay. Mail essay and addendum to: La Porte Service League Scholarship Committee Debbie Ault 1974 S 100 W La Porte, IN La Porte Service League The John Jack Whitted Memorial Scholarship, est The John Jack Whitted Memorial Scholarship is to be awarded by La Porte Service League to a La Porte High School senior who has experience in and is planning a college major in engineering, architecture, construction management, building trades or theatre arts. Jack Whitted was known for his generosity to the community through his creativity, artistic prowess, ingenuity and amazing talent for decades to La Porte Service League s annual children s plays through set design and construction as well as special effects. The memory of Jack s accomplishments will be honored through this scholarship with the hope of encouraging the recipients to develop and share their talents with their communities. 8 26. La Porte Turbos Scholarship The applicant should be a senior at LPHS. The applicant should also have been a member of the La Porte Turbos Swim Club for at least six (fall or summer) seasons. The applicant should also have participated at least three years on the LPHS Swim Team. 27. La Porte Educational Development Foundation Scholarship The mission of the Foundation is to enrich the lives of students in La Porte Community Schools by providing support and resources to enhance educational experiences. One scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior. The basis for selection will include: Interest in obtaining teaching degree Academic achievement Involvement in extra-curricular activities Community service Financial need Proof of enrollment in a higher education program Completed LPHS general scholarship applications, returned to the guidance office by the due date 250 word essay on the topic: How the schools I have attended in La Porte have prepared me for the future. essay to the below address. Letter of recommendation from a HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER she/he has had in an academic class. The teacher should this letter to the following address: Educational_Dev_Foundation@lpcsc.k12.in.us Letter of recommendation and essay due by March 1, 2018 Funds will be awarded after fall school schedule has been received by the LEDF Scholarship committee.

LPHS French Club Scholarship The French Club Scholarship is a one-time grant presented to a graduating senior who has: Enrolled in a college or university Completed at least six (6) trimesters of French or its equivalent Will be enrolled in a French course at college/university Winners are selected according to the following criteria: Grades in French class Participation in the French Club Class citizenship, ie: attitude, effort, participation, etc Overall GPA 29. LPHS German Club Scholarship The LPHS German Club Scholarship is a one-time grant. The award will be presented to a graduating senior who has: Enrolled in a college or university Completed at least six (6) trimesters of German or its equivalent A committee of two (2) English teachers and two (2) foreign language teachers will select the winner based on the following: Overall academic achievement German ability and activities Citizenship Financial needs

LPHS Spanish Club Scholarship Spanish Club scholarship, for graduating high school seniors are awarded to currently active Spanish Club members who will be enrolled in a college Spanish course. Criteria for applying: Two (2) years of club participation GPA, and grades in Spanish classes Teacher recommendations Financial need Must participate in club fundraiser Applicant s past involvement with programs to assist the local Hispanic community and/or promote the study of Spanish, as an outreach of Spanish Club, may also be taken into consideration. After scholarship recipients are selected, students must provide proof of enrollment in a college Spanish course before receiving the awarded amount. 31. Lincoln Elementary PTA Scholarship The Lincoln School PTA is offering three scholarships to two (2) senior students who attended Lincoln Elementary School for a minimum of three (3) years and graduated from LPHS. 32. Maple City Lions Club Scholarship The Maple City Lions Club is proud to administer The Maple City Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund is to be used for a two or four year college or trade school. Qualifications included: Should have a 3.5 or better grade point average Must be active in a sport, club or extracurricular activities.

La Porte Pop Warner in Memory of George Otwinowski Scholarship The George Otwinoswski Memorial Scholarship is presented to two graduating seniors, one (1) male, one (1) female, with a 3.0 or higher GPA. Applicants must have participated in La Porte Pop Warner for at least one full season and will need to present written proof of acceptance to a college or vocation school. Applicants must MAIL PRIOR to the application deadline at least a one page essay about how La Porte Pop Warner impacted your life. Essay must be legibly hand written or typed and mailed to: George Otwinowski Memorial Scholarship 4685 N Meadowlark Drive Rolling Prairie, Indiana PSI IOTA XI Sorority Scholarship The La Porte Chapter of Psi Iota Xi will award up to two (2) scholarships to graduating seniors who plan to major in a field relating to Speech and Hearing, Music or Art. 35. Riley Elementary PTA Scholarship Riley Elementary School PTA is offering one-year scholarships to LPHS seniors who have attended one year of his/her elementary education at Riley Elementary School. The criteria for receiving one of these scholarships are a demonstration of financial need, a 3.0 GPA and acceptance into a college, trade school or vocational school.

12 36. Rotary Club / John & Helen Haverstock Memorial Scholarship The Rotary Club Scholarships are based on need, academic performance and merit. These Scholarships are awarded yearly. The average amount of the scholarship is $ each. The number of scholarships available to LPHS graduating seniors varies each year and the scholarships may be reapplied for every year after graduation. This includes LPHS graduates that do not receive this scholarship their senior year. Download the application from A FAFSA form MUST be completed in order to apply for these scholarships. The completed applications and FAFSA forms must be returned, postmarked by March 21st to the address on the application. The LPHS Common Scholarship Application form must also be completed by LPHS graduating seniors and returned to the Guidance Office, by their due date for consideration. These scholarships are available for: technical school, accredited college (both 2 and 4 year programs) and graduate school. 37. St. John s Lutheran School Scholarship St. John s Lutheran School is offering two (2) scholarships to a senior who is a graduate of St. John s Lutheran School and a member of St. John s Lutheran Church one from its School Board and one from the Parent Teacher League. The recipient will be attending a 2 or 4 year college, trade school, or vocational school. They must have a GPA of at least a 3.0 overall average during the whole time in high school. 38. Bob Strieter, Sr, Scholarship The Slicer Football Association is offering a scholarship to a graduating senior who lettered in football and plans to play in college. The applicant should be active in other extracurricular activities, demonstrated leadership and have maintained a 2.5 GPA. Proof of enrollment in an accredited school must be submitted by the recipient in order to receive the scholarship.

Student Council Leadership Scholarship The Student Council Leadership Scholarship was created to recognize seniors who have exhibited outstanding leadership skills during their high school career. Recipients must be in good standing, must have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and must provide proof of leadership abilities in portfolio form. Please include a letter of recommendation in your portfolio from an adult who has seen you exhibit your leadership skills. A faculty committee consisting of the Student Council Advisor, and additional teacher and one administrator shall determine the winner(s). $ shall be awarded to one or, if the committee chooses, each of two winners. Preference will be given to Student Council members, but other qualified student leaders may apply. The portfolio and letter of recommendation are due to the advisor of Student Council no later than March 9 th. 40. Tri Kappa Scholarship The La Porte Tri Kappa Delta Upsilon Chapter has several annual scholarships available. Eligible candidates will be in the upper third of their graduating class. The Eva Thompson Little Scholarship and the Tri Kappa Open Scholarships are awarded to the high school graduates who demonstrate need for financial assistance to attend college. The remaining awards are available to candidates who document demonstration of scholarship, leadership and community service. Students must complete an addendum. This is a separate page which must be attained from the Guidance Office and returned with your application. 41. AAUW Notable Woman of Indiana Scholarship This scholarship is sponsored by the local chapter of the AAUW, The American Association of University Women. This will be a scholarship of $ for senior women only. Students must write an essay of 500 words, double-spaced, about a woman with national recognition, who was born, reared, or educated in Indiana. This essay must be turned in with your application to the Guidance Office.

14 42. LPHS Building Trades Jim Marks Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is given in honor of Jim Marks who was a local contactor in La Porte County. Jim had two sons who went through LPHS Building Trades Program. He saw the need to keep the program moving forward and the need for quality construction workers. The criteria for the $ scholarship are as follows: A member of La Porte High School Building Trades Class A Student who wants to continue his or her education through college or technical school 43. Jake West Memorial Scholarship The Slicer Football Association is offering a scholarship to a graduating senior who played football and plans on going to college. The applicant should be active in other extracurricular activities, demonstrate leadership and have maintained a 2.5 GPA. Proof of enrollment in an accredited school must be submitted. 44. Terra Verde Garden Club Scholarship Terra Verde Garden Club of La Porte, IN is offering a $ scholarship to any 2018 graduate of La Porte High School pursuing a bachelor s degree. The applicant must be majoring in horticulture, landscape designing, landscape architecture, or plant sciences. The applicant should be active in extracurricular activities, demonstrate leadership and have maintained a 2.5 GPA. Proof of enrollment in an accredited school must be submitted if scholarship is awarded.

FOP Lodge #54 Memorial Scholarship This Memorial Scholarship, given by the members of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #54 is presented to one (1) graduate with the intent of going into some sort of Public Service related career (i.e. Criminal Justice, 1 st Responders, Social Services etc ). The applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must supply our committee with two teacher recommendations (must include their contact information). The applicants also need to provide written documentation of acceptance to their college of choice. Lastly the applicants need to write or type a one page essay on how this career is important to him/her and/or how they have been impacted by the career they are choosing. The essay, recommendation letters, and letter of acceptance needs to be mailed to our lodge by March 1, FOP Lodge #54 Attn: Detective Nathan Thode 1206 Michigan Ave LaPorte, IN Ruth Minich Memorial Scholarship The Ruth Minich Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Ruth Minich and her belief in strong Unions and organizing rights. Strong Unions and employee organizing rights foster a vibrant middle class with their focus on safety and fair wages. This scholarship is offered to a graduating senior who is attending any two or four year college, vocational, trade or technical school. Qualifications include: Must show some financial need Have a 2.5 or better GPA Must be the child or grandchild of a Contracted School Bus Driver of LPCSC Good attendance record

Horizon Bank Slicer Branch Scholarship Horizon Bank will award a $1,000 Scholarship to a LaPorte High School graduating senior in good standing who plans to further his/her education after high school. This may be at any accredited vocational school, community college, college, or university. The student must show proof of acceptance into the program prior to receiving the funds. The check will be made payable to the student and the school that he/she is attending. Children or grandchildren of Horizon Bank employees are not eligible to apply for this scholarship. To be considered for the Horizon Bank Scholarship, applicants MUST meet these criteria: Thorough and accurate completion of the scholarship application. 500 word essay on the topic Community Service Matters Because included with the scholarship application. This should be typed. Willingness to sign publicity release form. Letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, or extracurricular sponsor. 17 48. Boys LPCC Brad James Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is given in honor of Brad James who was a past high school runner in La Porte County. Brad had several family members who have been part of LPCC which made him an avid fan of cross country. He loved what the team and the Brotherhood stood for. The criteria for this 1 (one) time $ scholarship are as follows: Must have been a member of LPCC for 3 years of school. If applicant is a transfer student, they must have ran for 2 (two) years at their old school with at least 1 (one) year at La Porte High School Must show proof that the applicant has been accepted by an accredited college, university or into a vocational/technical school Applicant must display great work ethic in and out of school, be a good student and have showed an outstanding dedication to the sport and his brothers. But above all, to show that he ran with heart and passion while a member of LPCC Financial need and GPA are not considered for this scholarship.
