DELTA ALPHA LAMBDA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PURPOSE: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Alpha Lambda Chapter is pleased to offer a scholarship to a graduating AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE SENIOR in high school in the Greater Cleveland area. AWARD COMPONENTS: The monetary amounts are determined by the Scholarship Committee. CRITERIA: Must be a graduating high school senior ( school year) Completed written application Application must be received on time without exception 3.0 Minimum GPA overall or progression towards un-weighed GPA of 3.0 over the course of four semesters (For the most recent completed cumulative GPA period in 2016 by application deadline) Official high school transcript All transcripts must be submitted using the grading policy/gpa scale currently used by their school Student must reside and attend a high school in Cuyahoga County or the surrounding counties Acceptance letter from college/university (copy must be enclosed with application) Essay from one of the four topics listed below (Minimum 250 words on a separate sheet of paper): 1.) What it means to be a Servant today to All of Mankind? 2.) How did you overcome any past academic deficiencies and how will you sustain success in college? 3.) What is the biggest challenge facing the minority youth of today? 4.) Upon completion of your academic requirements at college, how do you plan to show Love for All of Mankind? Essay is not to exceed 300 words maximum Essay must be typed, Times New Roman style, font size 12, single spaced, and error free No essay will be accepted or considered for evaluation if it is hand written All submissions that are wrinkled, stained, handwritten, or unprotected will be eliminated from the process (please return items in folder, binder, etc.) Two Letters of recommendation, one from a school official such as an administrator, guidance counselor, department chair, or academic advisor and one from a person in the community (letters from relatives are strictly prohibited). Must include typed two contact numbers, address, and full name A face to face panel interview of the applicant with the review committee 2

Scholarship Award Recipient Instructions: Following notification of the scholarship award, the recipient(s) selected must provide proof of enrollment at an accredited college or university during the Fall 2016 or Spring 2017 academic term prior to final disbursement funding of the award. In addition there may be other requirements that every recipient and their parents/guardian will be provided. All redemption instructions will be provided to any selected recipients and their parents at the awards banquet. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
