1 1 ABOUT ERASMUS I. PRESENTATION The ERASMUS program stipulates the conclusion of bilateral agreements between our university and other universities in Europe, which would enable student mobility. During the exchange program, students have the same rights as those of the host institution, i.e. they may attend courses, they can be accommodated in dormitories and they have access to libraries or other services and facilities. The subjects studied during the training period are equated by the home university, so students do not have to sit through equivalence examinations when they return from the training period. In addition to the study mobility, the LLP program offers students the possibility to benefit from a funded internship (industrial placement) in a company (or other organization) in Europe. Its duration is between 3 and 12 months. It is possible to combine a study period with an internship, i.e. one can study at a partner university and then can have an internship within a company in the same area. II. WHICH ARE THE OBJECTIVES? Specific objectives To support the establishment of a European space for higher education; To consolidate the contribution of higher education and advanced professional training to the innovation process Operational objectives To improve the quality and increase the number of multilateral cooperation agreements among higher education institutions in Europe; To increase the transparency and compatibility of the diplomas issued by institutions of higher education and advanced professional training in Europe; To improve the quality and increase cooperation between higher education institutions and enterprises; To facilitate the development of innovative practices in education and training at the tertiary level and to secure their transfer, including from one participating country to another; To support the development of content, services, pedagogical methods and innovative practices based on ICT in lifelong learning

2 2 III. WHO MAY PARTICIPATE? Students and under-graduates in all forms of education and training institutions at the tertiary level; Higher education institutions, as specified in the requirements of the EU member states and other participant countries; Professors, trainers and other categories of academic staff in these institutions; Associations and representatives of those involved in higher education, including students, universities and professors / trainers associations; Enterprises, social partners and other representatives of the work field; Public and private organizations, including non-profit organizations and NGOs with responsibilities in organizing and assuring education and training at the local, regional and national level; Research centers and bodies interested in lifelong learning; Bodies providing orientation, counseling and information services. IV. SPECIFIC ELIGIBILITY RULES: In order to be eligible for this program, higher education institutions must own an Erasmus University Charter (EUC). However, the Erasmus program is open to a wide range of actors (companies, social partners, research centers), as provided in art. 20 of the European Parliament and Council Decision establishing the Lifelong Learning Program (LLP). Regarding the placement of the Erasmus students, higher education institutions must own an Extended Erasmus University Charter (for more details, see the specific information about EUC), and consortia must own an Erasmus Consortium Placement Certificate. During the period of studies, one person can receive a maximum of three Erasmus grants: one for the duration of studies, one for placement and one for the participation to an Erasmus Mundus Masters course. For the accomplishment of the mobility, the origin or host country must be a member of the EU. At least one of the organizations participating in the consortium must be from an EU member state.

3 3 V. WHAT TYPE OF ACTIVITIES? Individual mobility, which may include: - Students mobility to study in a higher education institution from another participating country ('Erasmus Students') - Students mobility in order to assure placement in enterprises, training centers, research centers or other organizations from another participating country ('Erasmus Students') - Professors mobility in higher education institutions or personnel invited from enterprises in order to carry out teaching activities - Mobility of teachers and other categories of personnel from higher education institutions in order to ensure their training in another participating country - Erasmus intensive language courses organized for students who come to participant countries where the languages spoken are used on a small scale or less taught - Erasmus intensive programs multilaterally organized. Multilateral projects focusing, among others, on innovation, experimentation and the exchange of good practices in the areas mentioned in the specific and operational objectives. The projects should aim at developing and implementing programs of study; they should elaborate strategies for the modernization of a specific aspect of higher education; they should promote cooperation between higher education institutions and enterprises or address key issues connected to the virtual campuses. Networks ( Erasmus Networks') including higher education institutions and other organizations which represent either a discipline or an interdisciplinary field, aiming at developing new learning concepts and skills ('Academic Networks') or addressing a structural or managerial aspect of higher education in order to promote innovative solutions and approaches ('Structural Networks'). Initiatives which, although not eligible under the other actions of the Erasmus Program, will clearly contribute to accomplishing the objectives of the Erasmus Program (accompanying measures). Preparatory visits, which help to establish contacts with prospective partners in view of attaining closer collaboration.
