1 Summary Report Page 1 of 5 This report covers the activities and expenditures supported at Northern Kentucky University under the. During fiscal year , Northern Kentucky University did not submit any requests for Commonwealth Excellence Matching funds as its allocations have been fully disbursed. The match program has helped to create or expand a cumulative total of 32 endowments valued at $20,705,054 at June 30, 2007 (see Table 6). Since the program s inception in 1998, seven faculty positions have been established and all have been filled; 17 scholarship/fellowship funds have been created with 15 making awards; and eight mission support activities have been created with all reporting activities. 2 Page 2 of 5 All of the seven endowed professorships/chairs, 15 of the 17 endowed scholarships and all of the eight endowed mission support projects were active during the fiscal year. Overall, since 1998, a total of two chairs, five professorships, 17 scholarships/fellowships, and eight mission support projects have been endowed through the program. As of the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007, seven professorships/chairs, 15 scholarships/fellowships, and eight mission support projects were active. Demographic Information Of the seven faculty members supported with funds in fiscal year , two are white females, and five are white males. 3 Page 3 of 5 During fiscal year , a total of 134 undergraduate and post graduate students received scholarship awards from state matched endowed scholarships (see Table 4). Of the 134 recipients, race information was available for only 128 recipients. Of the 128 students providing race information, eight students, or 6.3%, were minority students, and eight students, or 6.3%, were nonresident alien (international) students. Six students, or 4.5% of the total number of scholarship recipients, provided no demographic information. Of the 134 scholarship recipients reporting gender information, 79 or 59% were female and 55 or 41% were male. 4 Page 4 of 5 Area of Concentration The Guidelines stipulate that at least 50% of program funds must be used to support Programs of Distinction or new economy disciplines. NKU has received all of its match program allocation totaling $2,904,000. That amount was matched with $4,183,590 in cash gifts and pledges, bringing the total amount of program funds to $7,087,590. Of that amount, $4,230, 477 or 59.7% will be used to support the University s Program of Distinction. Of the total market value, $6,878,773 or 33.2% represent state funds and 39.7% or $8,226,425 represent private funds received; $5,599,856 or 27.1% represent market value of cumulative earnings. Foundation records show an outstanding balance of $106,913 in outstanding pledges (includes only private receivables, all state funds have been received) for CPE endowment matching funds. Over $350,000 was expended from these funds during the fiscal year ended June 30, 2007.
