I am currently learning two languages besides English which include French and Thai. My future plans include hopefully studying at Cornell University to gain my Doctorate in Zoology. I would like to thank both the Geneseo Rotary Club as well as District 7120 for this wonderful opportunity to learn about and experience a new culture in the amazing country of Thailand. Monday, April 20th will be the 90th anniversary of the Geneseo Rotary Club receiving its Charter. Contributions to the Annual Fund set a new record of $116.6 million. Donors also gave a record $23.7 million to the Endowment Fund. During calendar year 2014, with the tremendous support of Rotarians and friends of Rotary, we received the $70 million 2-to-1 match from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation by meeting our obligation to commit $35 million from the PolioPlus Fund toward the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. Rotary s new grant model finished its first year of global support for projects in our six areas of focus, with district and global grant awards totaling $70.8 million. Rotary s consolidated financial activities include those of Rotary International (RI), The Rotary Foundation (TRF), and their wholly owned subsidiaries. (Source...Rotary News, February 2015)
9 March 2015 P a g e 9. March is Rotary Literacy Month What is Rotary Literacy Month? Rotary Literacy Month highlights literacy and education issues around the world. Celebrated in March each year, Rotary Literacy Month is an excellent opportunity for Rotary clubs to raise awareness about literacy, launch new literacy initiatives and projects, and recognize literacy accomplishments from the past year. Rotarians everywhere are encouraged to participate in Rotary Literacy Month by engaging in service or activities that specifically address literacy and education issues either in their communities or abroad..
