3 MISSION Provide free, personalised information about and assistance with administrative steps to be undertaken prior to arrival at ULB and formalities to be completed once in Belgium Increase attractiveness of ULB Lighten the administrative load of host faculties Ensure a high and uniform level of welcome Share expertise

4 IN PRACTICE BEFORE ARRIVAL IN BELGIUM Online welcome guide Status at ULB, visa, work permit, residence permit, accommodation, insurance, health care, taxes, social security, campus life, bank, transport, language courses, schools & crèches, cost of living, sport and cultural activities..

5 IN PRACTICE BEFORE ARRIVAL IN BELGIUM Advice and information (eg. administrative procedures, accommodation market, rental contracts.) Visa applications; facilitate and speed up visa application process via contacts with the Belgian Interior Ministry and Consulates School and crèche places

6 IN PRACTICE AFTER ARRIVAL IN BELGIUM Personalised welcome at the International Welcome Desk, the ULB Euraxess Contact Point Open 9-17h, no appointment necessary Welcome pack Town hall registration, renewal of residence permit; speed up and facilitate the process via contacts with local authorities, Belgian Interior Ministry and police.

7 IN PRACTICE AFTER ARRIVAL IN BELGIUM Bank account Health care system Registration with mutuality (medical insurance) Information on a variety of topics (eg. social security, tax, child benefit, insurance, public transport, shops, sport and cultural activities, contact people within ULB..)

8 IN PRACTICE REGISTRATION OF VISITING RESEARCHERS Qualify for registration as Visiting Researchers : Visiting professors, postdocs, researchers and PhD candidates who are - invited to ULB by a member of academic or scientific staff - funded by their home country or institution or who receive funding that does not transit through ULB Do not qualify for registration as Visiting Researchers : Bachelor & Master students, trainees, volunteers

9 IN PRACTICE REGISTRATION OF VISITING RESEARCHERS Registration as Visiting Researcher via the International Welcome Desk ULB Euraxess Contact Point provides access to university libraries and databases a ULB address insurance on university campuses

10 ERASMUS MUNDUS PRE-ARRIVAL Administrative support for submission of dossiers to the EACEA Liaison between the ULB Enrolment department and selected candidates Liaison with the ULB Accommodation office regarding student rooms Visas Organisation of EACEA-approved medical insurance

11 ERASMUS MUNDUS AFTER ARRIVAL IN BELGIUM Welcome on campus Organisation of French lessons Town hall registration Bank account Liaison with ULB Finance department regarding payment of Erasmus Mundus scholarships Organisation of welcome event Visa for second semester country
