What kind of arrangements, if any, does the Institution ensure to comply with nondiscrimination objectives (e.g. actions related to gender equality, integration of disabled students and staff, enhancement of social and economic cohesion and combating of xenophobia and racism)? The University of Szeged (USZ) has been participating in the ERASMUS program since Up to now our 1282 outgoing students and 472 teachers benefited from ERASMUS mobility actions, successfully performing their studying or teaching period abroad in 220 partner universities. During this period our teachers also participated in development of joint curriculum projects, organized intensive programs and cooperated in thematic networks. Incoming mobility greatly contributed to the modernisation of our curricula and the increased number of courses offered in foreign languages. The mission of the USZ is to provide highquality education at Bachelor, Master, onetier and doctoral levels, develop higherlevel vocational training and postgraduate specialist training courses. The university objectives are to meet the social and economic needs of the society, to broaden and reinforce the European dimension by developing new curricula and courses meeting European standards as well as to respond to the demand of national and international labour market. In coherence with its mission, internationalization of the university and its active participation in the EU LLP ERASMUS program is of vital importance. Our priorities set for ERASMUS activities are: to enhance teacher and student mobility in all fields of science, to motivate and help teachers to take part in international programs with special regard to elaboration and introduction of joint bachelor, master and doctoral programs, to widen the offer of courses and moduls in foreign languages and in interdisciplinary fields of science, to increase number of incoming and outgoing students, to improve infrastructural and student services, to expand the already existing special services for disabled such as counselling and oncall system for visually/hearing impaired and physically disabled students, to strive further for the enhancement of social and economic cohesion, to combat xenophobia and racism and to respect the principle of gender equality. To reach these goals USZ is ceasing the educational, administrative and structural barriers of international mobility with utilization of credit system and ECTS, detailed course descriptions in foreign languages, DS and EUROPASS documents thus facilitating the recognition of students studies and placements abroad. Visibility has been and will be given to all of our ERASMUS activities and results. The International Relations Centre (IRC) regularly monitors and communicates program achievements, application calls, programrelated information by all kind of information channels, mainly electronic ( circuit system, printed materials, meetings, workshops. IRC also makes evaluation of the activities and reports to the university leadership. USZ also intends to play an active role in the social, economic and cultural development of the region in order to achieve the recognition and support of the local citizens and the public. Quality of academic mobility activities: What kind of specific measures are implemented in the institution to ensure high quality in academic mobility 5 Imprimé le : :53:50 Soumis le : :53:30
6 activities? Details should be provided on: recognition and credit systems, the provision of information on curricula, information and counselling of outgoing students, tutoring and integration of incoming students, provision of student services (in particular accommodation), preparatory and refresher language courses, support and acknowledgement of staff mobility. Mobility activities are based on valid interinstitutional agreements. The program principles are fully respected by USZ. In case of outgoing students USZ keeps the following rules: gives an overall information, operates a transparent application and decisionmaking system, helps the student with information on recognition, credit system and curricula, gives administrative support by consulting with academic coordinators and registration offices regarding learning programs, provides the student with an agreed, written Learning Agreement stipulating courses and credit requirements, contracts on financial support, monitors study performance, recognizes it by Transcript of Records, confirmation letters of study periods and reports (one is requested for institutional evaluation and dissemination purposes). Courses offered for incoming students are integrated in curricula. Incoming students enrol and take courses in Electronic Study System. We provide them with a transcript of records confirming the completed studies and results. Students do not pay any tuition, registration, exam, laboratory and library fees. They have the same rights as our students have, get computer and Internet access, tickets for local transport for free. Students Government and ESN run mentoring and tutoring network, help in accommodation. Free mental hygienic counselling and oncall services are offered for students with disabilities (visually/hearing impaired and physically disabled students). We provide free courses on Hungarian language and culture. To enhance social and economic cohesion and combat xenophobia and racism we offer special programs. We respect the principle of gender equality. The teaching programs and lectures to be delivered by our outgoing and incoming teachers are agreed in advance and part of the curricula. We encourage teaching staff mobility on meetings and by electronic information. Teaching activities are recognized by faculties and monitored through reports. Quality of student placement activities: What kind of specific measures are implemented to ensure high quality in student placements? Give details on how the workprogramme and the placement agreement are prepared and implemented. Please describe the practical arrangements agreed between the parties. Please specify also the monitoring and evaluation of the placement period as well as its recognition in the curriculum. University of Szeged ensures the highest quality in the organization of student placements in order to help its students to acquire specific skills and work experience required in European Communitylabour market and to improve their understanding of the economic and social culture of the host country. Utilizing its wide partnership at home and abroad, the USZ makes enquiries in enterprises, training and research centres and other organizations to facilitate student placements in the most appropriate working environment and supervision based on prior agreed cooperation programs. In this respect, not only the International Relations Centre s coordinating, managing and administrative work is essential but also the assistance of departmental coordinators is of great importance as they can give advice to students on elaborating working programs, enter into contact with the organizations, monitor and help the implementation, as well as the recognition of the student placements abroad. On demand, sending departments take into consideration whether it is needed to organize preparatory or refresher courses for the students in the language of the host institution. It is a precondition that a placement contract should be signed by the university, the host organization and the student (beneficiary) well in advance. The beneficiary also should be provided with Learning Agreement regarding the program of placement period abroad. Completing the placement period abroad, student requested to submit documents and report on fulfillment and the university gives full recognition to the placement, which is confirmed also in the Europass and Diploma Supplement documents. Experience is evaluated and disseminated within the institution and used for the benefit of future student placements. The experience gained is shared with students and teachers on preparatory information meetings as well. 6 Imprimé le : :53:50 Soumis le : :53:30
