5 The vision... By 2020/21, an additional 30,000 women in all areas of the country should receive access to evidenced based specialist support closer to their home when they need it including access to psychological therapies with the right range of specialist community or inpatient care

6 NHS England s role NHS England to design a phased, five year transformation programme Build capacity and capability in specialist perinatal mental health services Realise the aim of enabling women in all areas of England to access NICE concordant care by 2020/21. Additional beds in existing units and new units, linking in with comprehensive community perinatal mental health services everywhere.

17 Community Service Development Fund Wave sites identified across the country out of 64 applicants proposals selected by expert panel development includes new and expanded services Funding up to 1 st April 2019 ( 40m investment) Commitment obtained from each applicant that this funding will then continue from the CCGs (Baselines)

23 Better Births: Recommendations There should be rapid referral and access to more specialist services when they are needed, including obstetric services in hospital, and in more specialist centres; perinatal mental health services; fetal medicine and neonatal and paediatric services if they are needed once the baby is born. (Better Births ) Providers should work together as part of a Local Maternity System to ensure that women and their babies are kept as safe as possible. Specialist care should be accessible when needed, and all providers should operate under shared clinical governance protocols. (Better Births )
