25 Registered Practical Nurse Refresher The Registered Practical Nurse Refresher Certificate program is for nurses who have been out of practice for three or more years. This program is customized to meet the needs outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) including clinical hours, in order for registered practical nurses (RPNs) to meet current CNO registration requirements. The refresher is a comprehensive, accelerated program with theoretical/clinical laboratory courses offered in a blended classroom and correspondence format that can be completed within two semesters. You will spend up to two days per week in a classroom setting, with an additional two to three days per week completing self-directed study to complement classroom work. The program also has an additional field practice component which satisfies the 200 or 400 clinical practice hours required by the CNO. Clinical placements are arranged with Humber's partner institutions across the Greater Toronto Area. All students will be in direct contact with their professor in the classroom setting. Case-based seminars and multiple learning methodologies will be used in a group setting to achieve the program learning outcomes. Registration in this program is restricted to eligible nurses who have a letter from the CNO indicating their academic and practice needs. Internationally trained nurses should contact the program advisor for guidance on their bridging-to-practice options. Eligible nurses will receive enrolment in the program through the program advisor. Admission Requirements Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) To submit a copy of your letter for enrolment purposes, please contact the program coordinator at nursingrefresher@humber.ca Contact Refresher Programs Coordinator nursingrefresher@humber.ca Ingrid Navidad ingrid.navidad@humber.ca ext
