3 CareerSource Florida A statewide network of career development professionals who Work directly for Florida employers, Find, develop and keep qualified talent, and Invest in programs to help businesses identify and cultivate our state s talent pool so that prospective employees have the skills and experience companies seek.
4 Objectives of Initiative Healthcare industry leaders identify talent needs and workforce challenges in order to develop sustainable solutions and policy improvements. Identify potential change to workforce policies. Develop a process to capture current healthcare industry workforce needs enabling supply-side partners to respond.
5 Leadership Council Comprised of expert healthcare industry practitioners and administrators in Florida. Brings together for the first time industry leaders from across all health professions, who have an active interest in healthcare. 7 Mission Identify current and future demand, supply and gaps for a quality workforce in the state in order to meet the needs of healthcare employers. Make recommendations relating to laws, regulations, policies, and practices that influence health professional education, recruitment and retention.
8 Professional and State Advisory Resource Groups High-level representatives of Health profession associations and trade groups Florida state agencies Stakeholders with high interest in the healthcare industry Serve as a resource for labor market intelligence specific to their area of expertise that will assist the Council in its work.
9 Regional Councils 8 Regions Aligns with 24 CareerSource Regional Workforce Boards Comprised of local healthcare industry leadership.
10 Regional Council Role Serves as primary point of contact to provide information on current and future workforce needs, challenges and issues at the local level. Members assist in the understanding of how the state workforce system can better meet their needs. Contribute to the achievement of the Leadership Council s mission.

14 Strategic Initiative I Identify gaps in healthcare workforce supply and demand data, and design a collection system to effectively analyze data at the state and regional level Reviewed Gap Analysis Report from SUS Board of Governors Health Initiative Committee Solicited availability of data from Advisory Resource Groups and Regional Councils Strategy for data collection system Occupations Minimum Data Sets Questionnaires Collaborate with Florida Health Department MQA for supply data Partner with Local Health Councils for demand data
15 Strategic Initiative II Develop strategies for recruitment and retention of healthcare workers, including critical need areas across all health professions. Identifying current and future healthcare professions to be addressed. Goal established at local level The Southwest Council will develop a tool by April 30 for a select group of employers to complete to identify the make-up and needs of their workforce. Assigned to two Council members.
