Total members as of May 2, 2016: 113 Membership trend: Members Types of members: N Membership Type Year Membership report was presented by Jill Asprey. Membership is stable. We have many students. 8 members from other states designate Iowa to get their state portion. Thanks to those members! 33 Active- Active members have the privilege of voting, holding office and serving on committees and shall be one of the following: 1)Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (PNP/APRN), School Nurse Practitioners (SNP), Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP), Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNP) or Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) who are eligible for certification or have been certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB), the American Nurses' Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the National Certification Corporation (NCC); 2) Registered Nursing Faculty members who prepare PNPs, SNPs, FNPs, NNPs, or CNSs as delineated above; or 3) Graduates of a PNP Certificate Program prior to Associate- Associate members shall be any persons interested in fostering the objectives of the association. They shall not have the right to vote or hold office. Associate members may serve on committees or participate in Special Interest Groups in accordance with SIG policies.= 50 Fellow- A Fellow is an active member who has been certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). 18 Student- Students are eligible for reduced dues if they are in their first Nurse Practitioner/CNS program and if they are registered nurses currently enrolled in an approved program whose graduates may

3 become active members as delineated above. All benefits except voting rights are included. Student status is limited to three consecutive years. 4 Doctoral Student- Professional NP's, already eligible for active NAPNAP Membership, currently enrolled in any doctoral program, are eligible for reduced dues. All benefits except voting rights are included. Doctoral Student Status is limited to two consecutive years. 3 New Graduate- New Graduates are eligible for active membership at a reduced rate for the first year following the completion of their NP or CNS program. New Graduates receive all membership benefits. 5 Retiree- Retirees from PNP or CNS Practice/Employment are eligible for membership at one half the regular annual dues. 4 As of January we are no longer maintaining a separate database from NAPNAP. Members need to keep information up to date in NAPNAP but no longer need to notify us of change. See list of missing s above. Student worker doing the monthly work and reconciliation. Greg continues to do reminders monthly C. Continuing Education (Mary Berg): The 2016 Spring Nurse Practitioner Conference is place May 5-6, 2016 at the Sheraton West Des Moines. CE planning members include: Mary Berg(chair), Peg Macek, Kathleen Gradoville, Keeli Irwin, Shelby Pelzer (student) and Molly James (College of Nursing staff). Topics covered in this year s program include: Infectious disease in immigrants, Vitamin D deficiency, SBIRT, Developmental mental health Eating disorders, Inflammatory heart disease, Syncope, Pediatric cancers, Anxiety, LGBTQ and Sexual minority identity and sexuality. Additional networking events include a wine and cheese reception, fun walk the morning of Friday, May 6th, a silent auction and an onsite career advising program by Jill Gilliland from Melnic Consulting Group. The board meeting to be held during lunch on the 1st day of the conference and the annual full membership meeting will be held during lunch on the 2 nd day. Melnic consulting group along with several exhibitors provided generous support for this conference. D. Nominations (Kathleen Gradoville and Courtney Kremer): The office of treasurer was up for re-election this year. The voting was done electronically. Forty members voted which was 35% of the membership. It was a close election. Samantha Lee was elected the new treasurer. Congratulations Samantha. Thanks to all who voted. The office of president-elect and secretary will be up for re-election next year. If you are interested, or know of someone interested in running for either of these offices, please contact Kathleen or Courtney. If you are interested in being on the nominations committee, contact Kathleen Gradoville We had approximately 60 attendees for the conference. Iowa Methodist wasn t available this year. We will be exploring options to host a joint conference with INPS in the future. Thanks to Melnic for supporting the conference. Congratulations to Samantha Lee for being elected as treasurer for a 2 year term. E. President Elect (Maria Lofgren): Maria has reviewed our by-laws and compared IANP chapter bylaws with NAPNAP chapter bylaw recommendations. She has some edits and suggested revisions. She will send out to the board and to a sub-committee. Goal is to have all board members look at bylaws and come to IANP Fall 2016 meeting to discuss changes and then send out to IANP members with election ballots prior to the IANP Spring Conference 2017 to vote on

5 those changes. There are only minor changes. F. Newsletter (Trudy Pierick and Natalie VanWaning): Due to the labor intensity of the newsletter, the board voted to change the newsletter to twice a year summer and winter. The newsletter continues to be recognized for its excellence. The NAPNAP staff included a copy of the Iowa Chapter Newsletter in the Chapter Presidents folder at the NAPNAP convention in Atlanta. We will be looking into paid advertising as we have in the past. The newsletter will be sent out in electronic version from now on. Newsletter will be published electronically twice a year. G. Website (Josh Petersen): Website domain has been extended for 5 years. No other changes. H. Public Relations (Lindsay Fredericksen) Facebook is a good resource for any clinical pearls or information for fellow IANP members. Feel free to post on our page. If you have something you would like me to share please send it to me by . Again this year we have long sleeved t-shirts for sale, notepads, pens and a few short sleeved t-shirts T-shirts- Long-$15 Short- $10 Pens- $1.00 Notepads- $5.00 I. Awards ( Courtney Kremer and Amy Leitch): The deadline for applications was extended to April 1 st due to the lack of student and member scholarship applications. Will have to work on better advertising of scholarships and awards next year. One member scholarship application was received and went to Maria Lofgren Amy Jo McGill was the member winner from the drawing last year. NP of the Year nomination was received. No student scholarship applications No Preceptor of the Year nominations IANP members can feel free to post professional items on our Facebook page. Follow our page for news throughout the year. Congratulation to for being selected as NP of the year and to to for being elected as Preceptor of the Year. J. Legislative (Cheryll Jones): The IANP/INPS Legislative Committee and Joe Kelly met the second and fourth Thursday of the month to review legislative priorities and determine positions on bills. The Legislative session ended Friday April 29. Joe Kelly will have a complete legislative report to share with members once the Governor signs the final bills. The Governor has until May 29 to sign bills passed the A big thanks to Cheryll and Joe for all of their work this year

6 IV. NEW BUSINESS last day of the session. IANP continues to be a member of the Children s Policy Coalition. Cheryll Jones represents IANP at Coalition meetings. The Children s Policy Coalition is committed to raising children s issues to prominence in Iowa during elections and is focusing on presidential candidates this elections year. Information regarding the Coalition, a list of coalition members, a voter survey that was done regarding children s issues and a voter s guide regarding questions for candidates can be found at the website Cheryll Jones and Joe Kelly presented at the Greater KC Chapter of NAPNAP Regional Summit focusing on barrier free access to care through full practice authority. The Summit included KS, MO, NE and IO. We were invited to speak at the Summit regarding Iowa and full practice authority. The intent is to educate the community, colleagues, legislators that legislation doesn t end at Full Practice Authority. Our state is the perfect example of continued efforts in legislation after full practice authority. The conference was Oct 16, 2015 IANP/INPS Day on the Hill was held February at the Capitol in room 304. The Iowa Board of Nursing has established an Advanced Practice Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Iowa Board of Nursing ARNP Advisory Committee is to provide guidance and support concerning the scope of practice of the advanced practice nurse in Iowa. IANP members Maria Lofgren and Cheryll Jones are members of the Advisory Committee. IANP is monitoring the transition to Medicaid Managed Care. IANP members have been asked to inform us of any issues regarding credentialing of provision of services. June is the date of the Iowa Primary elections. IANP members are urged to participate in the primary election. August Board Meeting TBD A BIG thank-you to the board for serving.
