3 KEY TASKS Occupational therapy EXPECTED OUTCOMES Provides a care co-ordination role for a small number of consumers (as negotiated with team manager) whose needs are more occupational in nature. Is able to articulate application of occupational therapy theory in relation to specific client work. Uses evidence based practice. Uses safe practice. Utilises, has knowledge of and promotes local resources. Uses and selects occupations and environments to facilitate and enhance overall wellness and quality of life. Contributes to planning, revising and monitoring of the occupational therapy service. Provides individualised or group occupational therapy intervention with identified clients. Provide objectives and rationale for groups. Ensures annual practicing certificate is current Identifies and articulates the unique roles and skills occupational therapy offers in the team. Provides occupational therapy perspective through consultancy to the team. Recovery Recognises and supports personal resourcefulness of consumers. Involves consumers and families in service planning development and evaluation. Advocates for consumers and supports self-advocacy. Articulates awareness of many views/explanations on mental illness and is able to understand and accommodate these. Shows an awareness of and utilises a range of support services for families/ whanau. Provide education and support to families and others. 4 KEY TASKS Multi-disciplinary Team Personal and Professional Development EXPECTED OUTCOMES Has awareness of and identifies the roles, functions and philosophies of the multidisciplinary team. Shares clinical responsibility with the multidisciplinary team. Works collaboratively with other team members to achieve integrated outcomes for consumers Ensures all documentation is completed, reviewed, and updated as required. Adheres to statutory requirements under Mental Health Act. Completes all relevant administrative tasks. Practice is in accordance with relevant WDHB Policies. Functions as an autonomous practitioner and is accountable for own actions. Manages time effectively. Identifies and utilises stress management strategies. Utilises conflict management skills. Effective and efficient acquisition and management of resources. Completes orientations and mandatory training as required Attends regular professional supervision (minimum once a month) occurs to address areas of difficulty and review quality of practice. Professional development is actively pursued by active participation in appropriate in-service or outsourced education, reading relevant literature or seeking other resources. Senior occupational therapist is liaised with regarding professional issues as required. Exchanges and share resources. Participates in performance development and review processes. 5 KEY TASKS EXPECTED OUTCOMES Develops and maintains a Professional Development Portfolio as required by the Health Practitioner Competency Assurance Act Participates in providing education and practical experience to occupational therapy students. Provide supervision to other staff where appropriate Statutory & Treaty of Waitangi obligations Individual responsibility for workplace Health & Safety under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 Ensures the professional and political integrity of Waitemata DHB by carrying out all functions in compliance of the Treaty of Waitangi and by demonstrating a serious commitment to keeping the treaty alive Shows sensitivity to cultural complexity in the workforce and people using mental health services Contributes to a safe and healthy workplace at WDHB by: Following & complying with H&S policies & processes & applying them to their own work activities, including using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required. Participating in activities directed at preventing harm & promoting well-being in the workplace Identifying, reporting & self-managing hazards where appropriate Early and accurate reporting of incidents at work and raising issues of concern when identified.
