8 Attendance Being in school every day increases your chances of succeeding in school 90% Attendance requirement If you are absent: Call or as soon as possible to notify the school Megan Henderson Send a note with the student upon return Must be received within 4 days of the absence Checking out a student: All students are checked out through the office Only authorized contacts listed in Skyward can check out a student Proper identification is required
9 Tardiness Students should be in their 1st period class by 8:50 Student is considered tardy if arriving within the first 15 minutes of class After 15 minutes, the student is counted absent. The student must have a note or a parent to come sign them in. Attendance is taken every class period Students have a 4 minute passing period between classes Students must maintain a 90% attendance rate in EACH class to receive course credit

11 Pick Up & Drop Off DROP-OFF: Beginning at 7:30 AM, students may be dropped off on the south side of the building by the cafeteria. FRONT OF BUILDING: The front of RMS is for visitors and buses only. LANES: The right and left-hand lanes are for student un/loading. The center lane is for thru-traffic only. PICK-UP: All students must be picked up by 4:30 PM, except for curricular/extra-curricular activities. Administrators and teachers on duty will be directing traffic on the back side of campus in the morning and afternoon. Your cooperation is necessary for student safety and for efficiency.

13 Electronic Devices Each student will receive an i-pad. Slated for October/November. During the school day, devices should be used for school-related purposes only. Cell phones are not permitted at any time during the day. They must be turned off and kept out of sight. If phone is taken up, parent must come pick it up from the office First offense: Free Second offense: $15 Administration may confiscate the phone for repeated offenses. The phone would not be returned to the student until the end of the school year.

17 Dress Code The Middle School Dress code is enforced to ensure nothing affects the educational program of the school and the health and safety of others Dress code information is outlined in the student handbook online If there is a dress code violation Students will be given an option to change Can call parent for alternate clothes If no other clothes can be obtained, student will be placed in ISS
18 Dress Code Jeggings, leggings, skinny jeans, etc. must be worn with fingertip length shirt, skirt, shorts and dresses. No holes or rips in jeans are allowed Student s ID must be visible at all times No headgear is permitted in the building Bare midriffs are not permitted Skirts and shorts must be 4 inches above the center of the kneecap No spandex or clothes that expose undergarments are permitted No clothing that promotes drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or inappropriate language are permitted.
