8 NHS Healthy Workforce Programme The Five Year Forward view was published towards the end of 2014 and contains specific commitments from NHS England to improve the wellbeing of NHS staff. As a result, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation trust was chosen as one of 11 pilot organisations by NHS England to be an Exemplar Employer. 10 additional include: Birmingham Childrens Hospital Foundation Trust Bradford District Care Foundation Trust Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals Trust Nottingham University Hospitals Foundation Trust Rotherham CCG Sheffield Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust The Walton Centre Foundation Trust University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust West Midlands Ambulance Service Foundation Trust York Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust

12 Moving Forward Implementing NHS Health Checks 63% of our staff are between the eligible age range Roll out to one business unit at a time, offer appointments with Occ Health at NTGH, WGH and HGH Letter invite to all eligible Letter back to GP of any health check result risks On ward referral to services and existing initiatives physiotherapy, Weight Management Opportunity to work with a Health Trainer to support creating lifestyle changes Better Health at Work Gold Assessment 11 th July 2016 Similar to workplace charter some may be familiar with Continue to improve Healthy Food Options Standardisation over canteen menus Traffic light system in addition HVS shops all have traffic light systems in-situ (this not only improves health of staff but also patients, guests and family who attend each hospital) Staff completed portion size training Healthy vending machines which are audited monthly to ensure 30% of total products are an approved healthier option as identified by dietician Re-wording of large portions to double to better raise awareness to staff NT 24 hour vending machines ENSEC 24hr canteen Healthy meal deals Pre-order of food for staff
13 CQUIN 2016/17 Health and Wellbeing now part of CQUIN targets in following areas: Introduction of Health and Wellbeing initiatives E.g. offer physical activity schemes, improve access to physiotherapy and introduce mental health initiatives Healthy food for NHS staff, visitors and patients Banning of price promotions and advertisements, banning of high fat, sugar, salt products from tills and ensure health options available Improving uptake of flu vaccinations
