2 2 1d. Recruitment Attract Students and Newly Qualified nurses into the primary health care community 1. Increase student nurse placements From GPN workforce plan 2017 Recommendation 2: Increase the number of preregistration nurse clinical placements in general practice. HEE educational facilitator employed to work with Uni placement coordinator to increase places. Information on Student placements added to GP data sets. 2. Develop a strategy for newly qualified nurses and those from secondary care to enter practice 3. Identify coming vacancies Explore how we can identify upcoming vacancies Continue to progress this through CCG and KHCIC Action point in PN strategy document Continue to promote one workforce and SW PN website vacancies, link with KHCIC locum and vacancy filling NHS E looking a regional system for collecting General Practice Vacancies Feb Link with RCHT and CPFT jobs fairs and colleges 5. Develop General Practice Ambassadors to speak to students in all disciplines Build on GPN plan to Identify practices that would buddy with local schools Nurses identified. Build on GPN plan to identify practices that would be prepared to buddy with local schools Identify opportunities for Ambassadors through college & Uni Team development and consistency in meesage. Immunisation team also speaking to students at schools

Part of lead meeting regularly used to explore good practice Project being developed to link HCA pathway with career document Develop an award for PN work in the local area that demonstrates integration and highlights good practice. Promote clinical supervision NS / Take opportunities to promote clinical Once educators are up to speed with delivering their supervision, through Educators, leads subject area work on supervsion especially using meetings and conferences - ongoing technology 4. Encourage sharing with others reflections on practice 5. Join Q network NS / From revalidation reflections encourage nurses to share these reflections. Area on new website to develop FAQ and reflections 6. Development of CEPN section on KHCIC website. 7. Sharing good practice as part of training event Meetings with NT NHSE safety will share so that incidents and near misses can be included in education development, meetings now attended. Needs to be kept up to date and link to Practice Nurse website as it morphs to CEPN. Translate incidents into learning

Map education and Building database of what is training including e- available learning that is currently available to General Practice staff in Cornwall 2 2b. Accurately identify the need for funded CPD places, in terms of demand and personnel allocation. Using these places to best effect, in terms of workforce transformation, integration and improved patient care Use CEPN as a training Project Action/work stream Lead Work in progress Next steps Learning needs assessment to primary care, locality areas and Cornwall wide Working with area CEPN team to develop this - ongoing Link education available with training outline Promote course that fit the STP transformational work. Recommendation 14: Increase the number of HCAs in general practice to include widening participation schemes that encourage use of the HCA apprenticeship route and support the emerging role of the nursing associate 1. Clinical correspondence management NS Ensure training implemented meets recognised standard HEE competency framework, RCGP, etc. Develop receptionist training in care navigation and clincial correspondence - ongoing Review this against workforce data. Keep abreast of developments of Apprentices & Nurse Associate roles Identify competencies for all job roles in GP - partial Practice educators to make sure all their courses align to national competencies HERE commisioned to deliver CCM for rest of practices. 8 parctices training March 2018 Active signposting show case event arranged for 27th March 2018 Training arranaged to review AHSN new models of care portal HEE educator facilitator developing HCA pathway care certificate and apprenticeships. Work with SoF to identify opportunities to work together on Nurse apprenticeships and Associate nurses.
6 2k. Recommendation 15: All HCAs in general practice care settings must hold the Care Certificate 2l. Recommendation 16: All education and training for HCAs in general practice must be aligned to the Royal College of General Practitioners (2015) Healthcare Assistants (General Practice) Competency Framework and the HEE District & General Practice NS HEE educator faclitator developing HCA pathway care certificate and apprenticeships. Rewrite course outlines to be clearer, identifying what level of staff the course is suitable for, the outcomes the course would achieve for the service, and how this links with the career frameworks 4e.
