To supervise care assistants and work closely with all members of staff to ensure that highquality care is given. 11. Through working practices to undertake training of staff. 12. To ensure the effective and efficient use of all home resources. 13. To keep the next of kin informed of significant changes in a resident s condition. 14. To ensure religious, cultural, emotional and psychological support for residents and their families. 15. To attend and participate in relevant staff meetings. To assist residents with their personal and elimination needs. 2. To help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence. To help residents use and care for aids and personal equipment. 3. To care for residents who are acutely or chronically sick and needing, for example, care whilst in bed, help with feeding or pressure ulcer prevention. 4. To help care for residents who are dying. 5. To help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations. 6. To make and change beds, tidy rooms, do light cleaning and empty commodes. 7. To inspect residents clothing, instruct laundry staff of any repairs or labels required. 8. To serve meals, feed residents who need help, tidy and clear the dinning room. 9. To answer call bells, the door and the telephone, greet visitors. 10. To read and maintain records as directed by the person in charge. 11. To take part in staff and residents meetings and in training activities as directed. 12. To undertake domestic duties which can be performed during the night hours and which do not compromise the care of residents. 1. To assist residents with their care and elimination needs. 2. To carry out regular checks on residents throughout the night as requested by the resident or determined by the manager and with due regard for residents privacy and dignity. 3. To carry out regular checks on the building at intervals determined by the manager with special reference to fire prevention and security. 4. To answer call bells from residents. To assess and deal with any emergency situation and to contact/summon the senior care staff on call wherever necessary. 5. To assist residents who need help or reassurance. 6. Following the Homes procedures for the management of medicines to manage and administer medication to residents. 7. In the time available between attending to residents undertake light domestic duties as directed by the manager. 8. To maintain accurate records as directed by the manager. 9. To answer the telephone and greet visitors. 10. To comply with the home s guidelines, policies and procedures at all times. 11. To report to the person in charge any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a resident. 12. To encourage residents to remain as independent as possible. 13. To handover information to day care staff that is relevant to the ongoing care of individual residents. 14. Such other duties as may reasonably be required.
