3 1 P a g e Purpose The purpose of this e-portfolio is to showcase your academic and professional activities. As in the DNP Project, the e-portfolio is an experiential learning opportunity to demonstrate your skills, leadership, evidence-based practice translation, critical thinking, and communication. The e-portfolio demonstrates achievement of the FHSU DNP Student Learning Outcomes and the DNP Essentials through a collection of academic work that provides evidence of growth and transition to the DNP role. Content Specific content has been designated as essential to showcase the students work during the DNP program. Four sections have been identified as required for each e-portfolio and include About Me, Educational and Professional Experiences, Academic and Professional Presentations, and DNP Project. In addition to the main menu items listed, sub-menu items will also be included. The student may also add to this to customize and personalize their portfolio. Grading will be based on the instructions within this guideline and a rubric will be utilized. The following information will clarify the specific content and submission requirements. About Me Within the e-portfolio the student will have an opportunity to provide personal information. The student may present this information in any format they choose. The following information must be included: 1. A personal statement 2. Contact information 3. References 4. Community service activities 5. Professional affiliations
4 2 P a g e Educational and Professional Experiences The e-portfolio provides the student with an opportunity to present their educational training and professional background. Specific requirements include: Main Page of this section: This is in lieu of a traditional word document style resume and will showcase the educational and professional highlights of the student s academic and professional career. 1. A list of higher education programs attended, including programs, degrees or certifications, and attendance dates should be included. 2. Professional experiences which should include all professional medically related jobs. This includes what you would normally add to your resume when applying for a job. Education: Documentation of clinical experiences can be exported as a pdf document from Typhon which will include graphs and raw numbers to provide an overview of the number of cases, ages, procedures, and skills from each clinical preceptorship course listed below. The student will select Case Log Totals and then select each preceptorship. This information is added under the menu section Educational Experiences under the tab Clinical Education. Each submenu will represent each clinical course. This is only for BSN-DNP Students 1. Clinical Courses a. N819 Family and Community Preceptorships b. N824 PC I Preceptorship c. N836 Preceptorship Across the Lifespan d. N826 Diagnostics and Procedures Preceptorship e. N834 PC II Preceptorships f. N960 DNP Residency I g. N961 DNP Residency II 2. A Cumulative Summary should also be included by selecting All Courses from the drop down menu in Typhon under the Case Log Totals. This needs to
5 3 P a g e be completed when the student has completed all clinical preceptorships at the end of the program. 3. Preceptor Clinical Evaluations from each semester for the above named courses must be added and uploaded as a pdf document. 4. Clinical skills checklist which will show totals number of skills such as suturing, I & D, casting, splinting, lesion removal, other hand skills and X-ray interpretation is to be uploaded as a pdf document. Submission of the skills list is graded. This information may be further enhanced by developing a video showing the student performing the skills in the skills lab. The format of the information is at the discretion of the student and the student should consider adding this to each clinical skills lab simulation experience they have throughout the program in the form of short video clips that can be uploaded. The optional video is not graded. Educational and Professional Presentations Educational Assignments Each identified portfolio assignment from specific courses in the DNP program will address the DNP Essentials, the FHSU Student Learning Outcomes, and the required clinical and project hours. Specific requirements are outlined as follows: 1. Each of the assignments identified in Table 1 will need to be a part of the e- portfolio and added under the menu section Academic and Professional Presentations under the Academic Presentations Tab. 2. Each of the assignments below will count as 7% of each individual courses grade. 3. Each assignment will need to be uploaded into the e-portfolio in accordance with the due date designated in each individual course which is determined by the course instructor. Late assignments will not be accepted and a 7% deduction to the overall course grade will be applied. 4. It is the responsibility of the student to apply edits and corrections to the assignments once the assignment has been graded and returned by the instructor prior to uploading into the e-portfolio. It is the goal of the e-portfolio to showcase your best work.

7 5 P a g e dissemination of the DNP Project N959 DNP Project III DNP Project Scholars Day Poster DNP Hours Log Addresses integration of all DNP Essentials and FHSU SLO through the development, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of the DNP Project I-VIII 1-8 Professional Presentations As part of the nursing profession most students will have professional presentations that they would like to highlight within this portfolio. This will provide the student with the opportunity to showcase professional accomplishments and achievements. We strongly recommend our students look ahead during their program and identify professional opportunities that will enhance their marketability, provide a connection between academic learning and professional experiences, and seek out committee work and projects within the workplace or professional arena to build their resume. Content is not confined to the time frame in which the student is at FHSU. Content should span the career of the student s professional life. Content should be included under the Professional Presentations tab and separate sub menus may be added as needed. Examples and ideas of professional work that could be submitted include: 1. An abstract or poster from a conference 2. A power point from an educational teaching 3. A podium presentation power point 4. A published manuscript 5. Highlights from a successful grant 6. An executive summary of a quality improvement project or initiative This will not be a graded section as some students will not have professional presentations to include. It is highly encouraged to avoid word documents that must be downloaded for viewing.
8 6 P a g e Future employers will find short video clips or easy to navigate power points more compelling to explore. DNP Project The DNP Project is the culminating work of the DNP students academic career and should demonstrate successful integration of the DNP Essential and the FHSU Student Learning Outcomes. Since the final DNP Project manuscript will be a large document the project will be separated for viewing and navigation. The student will need to create separate pages for each section of the DNP Project manuscript that link from the abstract. The information should be added under the menu section DNP Project. This section will include sub-menus and content which includes: 1. Abstract where each section is separated and linked for easy navigation and may include links to graphs, tables, or charts to visually display the content of the project. 2. The DNP Scholars Day poster 3. The DNP Project Hours Log Grading The e-portfolio will be presented at the final DNP Public defense and will be graded as part of the DNP Project III course. It is the responsibility of the student to keep the information current as they progress through the program.
