I love to open the windows and let the fresh breeze blow in. But storms have hit our area hard, causing plenty of hail, wind and water damage. As I was reading s from our neighborhood association, I noticed a call for pictures and stories about the havoc on our streets. My initial reaction was What about all the other neighborhoods around? Haven t they endured some damage, too? It was a stark reminder to me to look outside my circle, to be mindful of the strife of others, which may be greater than what I am facing. (Most definitely!) It was a reminder to reach out and offer assistance wherever and whenever I can. It was also a reminder of a nurse whom I admire very much! She has a tattoo with two simple symbols signifying that we are neither greater than nor less than any other. We all need to do our part to help out, and I send this challenge out to you to reach beyond your little circle, and strive to make a difference in someone s life today. Our local chapter has committed to helping others, and has several events planned this year including our annual blanket and coat drive, and serving breakfast to the patrons of the Ronald McDonald house in the fall. Our chapter also makes quarterly donations to organizations dedicated to helping those in need. The first donation of 2016 is a $100 to cancer Care Services. We are also conducting a canned food drive to benefit the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Please remember to bring your collection to our April meeting. It is on the 4 th at Grace in Fort Worth.
