6 AGINCOURT CLINIC-MPUMALANGA SURVEILLANCE OFFICER (FIXED TERM CONTRACT: 12 MONTHS) C2 CDC1016/ To collect clinical data from patients at designated sites for surveillance and research purposes. The surveillance officer will be involved in clinic, community and hospital based surveillance and research for programmes that fall within the Centre for Respiratory Diseases and Meningitis. Rapidly identify surveillance cases by (1) close liaison with the clinical laboratory, (2) daily review of all laboratory records, and (3) by using other methods that have been put in place for that site Obtain informed consent and interview patients, clinicians and relatives to fulfill ethical requirements and ensure reliability of data Complete case report forms by interview and /or record reviews and submit to the timeously Conduct pre- and post-counseling for HIV testing, as specified in the relevant surveillance or research protocol Monitor the progress and outcome of patients in and out of the hospital to ensure accurate data collection and recording File surveillance and research records on-site after data collection, according to the relevant protocol Compile site statistics, as required by line manager Actively participate in and contribute to surveillance related activities e.g. special research studies nested within the surveillance programme, programme evaluations etc. This may include activities such as patient enrolment into research projects, follow-up of patients, collecting specimens from patients, travel to patient homes or health facilities in the local area, obtaining information from clinics or hospitals management as well as any reasonable task assigned by the line manager Assist to obtain permission and ethics approval for surveillance and research activities in the region Perform task assigned by the line manager, related to CRDM surveillance and research. 8 SANDRINGHAM OFFICER ADMINISTRATOR (FIXED TERM CONTRACT: 12 MONTHS) C1 CDC1016/ The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for projects conducted by the Centre for Respiratory Diseases and Meningitis (CRDM) and for CRDM staff in order to ensure maximum efficiency. Work as part of a team based at the Centre for Respiratory Diseases and Meningitis to facilitate sound administration on assigned projects Keep and maintain efficient administrative support to the Centre to ensure maximum efficiency and smooth running of the centre including review and approval of office/ laboratory supply acquisitions Handle general incoming and outgoing correspondence, (telephone, , fax etc.), including taking any necessary action and maintaining accurate records Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within NHLS and the study sites and other relevant organizations in order to improve administrative processes, communications and information flows Responsible for organizing local and international meetings and workshops from conception through to completion, including liaison with international coordinators/ budget holders, suppliers and venue; also including liaison with participants and organising travel and accommodation Facilitate proper reporting-management and report-writing Responsible for ensuring that all new staff in the Centre will be received and inducted into the Centre provided with resources required to fulfil their position (e.g. computer, office space, pin codes and pass cards) Handling and reconciliation of Petty Cash in accordance with the policies and procedures Ensure monthly stock take sheets are completed and submitted in accordance with policies and procedures Receive and distribute courier parcels to ensure that the courier deliveries are efficiently distributed within the division Perform routine administrative (minute taking, filing, faxing, follow up on outstanding issues etc.) duties for the centre to ensure that the centre operates smoothly Assist with administrative duties to ensure that surveillance sites function smoothly Assist with travel arrangements for the centre Comply with reasonable request from the line manager.
