Majority of the communities are only accessible by air. Distance as well as inclement weather is a huge challenge in providing service to the communities. The population within the Sioux Lookout area is approximately 30,000, community populations range from 300-2,000. The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority - Primary Health Care Unit coordinates and supports physician services to 28 remote isolated First Nation communities.
