11 A detailed description of the goals and objectives of the programs provided. The mission of Radiant Hands Inc. is to empower women in the North Central Florida area by providing them with spiritual, emotional, and financial support with the goal of helping them achieve independence in mind. In doing so, we hope to enable women to contribute individually and collectively in strengthening the community as a whole. We strive to accomplish these goals by providing personal and comprehensive assistance to our clients, remaining with them emotionally and financially until such time as they become independent. Priority for assistance is given to women who are the head of a single parent household and with a few exceptions when the male head of the household met the needs criteria of our mission. As such, we have purposefully limited the number of people we assist according to our capacity. In this way, we can provide families with consistent support over a period of time rather than having one instance of support, as is more common with other nonprofit agencies in the community. In 2010 Radiant Hands established a scholarship fund to assist clients with training and education. The goal is to work with area community colleges and their established programs for courses and examinations relative to obtaining a GED degree. Radiant Hands will assist in payment of the exam fee for qualified applicants who are referred by the educational institution. In addition, the scholarship will assist those who are furthering their education with technical training. Our first recipient received tuition payment to Sante Fe College in order to register for a prerequisite course. Upon successful completion of the course, her employer will pay her for the cost of the course, thus allowing her to take the next step. Without the assistance of the Radiant Hands Scholarship, she would not be been able to register and enter the program. It is anticipated that this type of assistance will allow applicants to further their education, get practical training and thus be able to support their families. In 2012, Radiant Hands assisted 12 students by paying the fees associated with the GED exam. These students were referred to us by the instructors of the courses. To date, 12 people have passed the exam. We anticipate more applications for the upcoming fiscal year. Recently, we were informed that one of the students who Radiant Hands sponsored for the exam fee earned a score of 3280 out of a possible The instructors at CTAE (Community Technical & Adult Education, Marion County) are doing a superb job screening most committed students. In addition, Radiant Hands has committed to assisting a single mom to pay for the CNA exam. Once the student is ready, and has saved her portion, Radiant Hands will submit a payment directly to the training/examination agency. Radiant Hands also worked with Intervention Project for Nurses to assist a CAN candidate get reinstated by the state in order to be able to return to work. Based on our commitment to helping the women, the testing agency reduced the fee thus allowing the woman to be successful in the program with the assistance of Radiant Hands Inc. Due to the current economic conditions, we have discovered that several potential students were unable to take the GED classes due to the fact that educational funding had been cancelled. Therefore for the upcoming 2012 fiscal year, Radiant Hands has decided to expand the scholarship to provide funding for deserving students for the class ($55.00) or payment of the exam fee ($70.00).

12 Radiant Hands Inc. is a 501c(3) charity established to provide financial support to families in crisis, with specific focus on single parent households in the North Central Florida area. Since 2005, we have distributed more than $116,000 to more than 335 families to help them stay in their homes, keep the utilities on, pay for medicine, and buy household supplies. We have also worked with a number of other local organizations to provide food, toiletry items, and warm clothing to the homeless population. Radiant Hands story is not only about money but also personal support tailored to the specific necessities of families in need. We strive to identify alternative ways to support families by minimizing cash flow and maximizing impact. For example, with the help of a local shoe store we provided a single mother with work-appropriate shoes so that she could start a nursing career. With the assistance of a local automotive shop, we helped a family with car repairs so that the family business could continue to operate. A local physician helped us to provide a special baby monitor for a deaf mother. While some families need help with a single bill or issue, for others Radiant Hands is a regular source of motivation and care, sometimes extending over two to three years. One example is a mother who contacted us three years ago for help. She was pregnant, out of work, and had been abandoned by her husband. With periodic support from Radiant Hands and her own fierce determination, she was able to acquire employment and quickly move past her financial difficulties to the point where she now is able to make regular financial contributions (through payroll deduction at UF) to Radiant Hands in turn, helping others overcome their challenges. 13 We hope to encourage and enable women to contribute individually and collectively in strengthening our community as a whole. Since 2005 we helped more than 150 individual families and more than 200 children. We also strive to provide goods for families in need through the St. Francis House, Project Downtown, Peaceful Paths, and the Birth Center of Gainesville. Non-discrimination Policy Radiant Hands Inc. is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all our members and clients. It is therefore this charity s policy not to discriminate in offering access to its programs and activities on the basis of age, gender, race, color, national origin, religion, creed, disability, veteran s status or sexual orientation. We are so blessed and I hope one day Inshallah we can give more back to support Radiant Hands, so you can keep helping more people the way you have helped us. Thank you for your gratitude, assistance and selection of our family. You all have helped our family more than you know, and we truly appreciate it. It s so good to know angels are truly among us! But God always make a way of no way. You all were a blessing! Thank you so much! I'm a single mother of three boys (now four I toke in a friend's 16yr old son who had nowhere to live) I work full time and receive no assistants or child support. My sister had passed away and I had to help with the funeral but that left me with next to nothing and rent to pay. I contacted Radiant Hands, I got a response within a day or so with the best news ever they would pay my rent not just some all of it. I'm so grateful for the help you all have provided. Thank you a million times. Things are still hard but that was a big help on your part. Updated 12/31/2012
