14 HHFKA of 2010, Section 204: LWP 5-Year Technical Assistance and Guidance Plan LWP, 4/15/14 ISBE, Nutrition and Wellness Programs USDA has led an interagency effort to assess the technical assistance needs of local agencies on Local Wellness Policy implementation Includes a short and long term plan for TA Purpose: to help local agencies meet the new LWP requirements and establish healthy school environments that promote nutrition and physical activity.

16 ISBE Monitoring of LWP How does the public know about the LWP? When and how does the review and update of the LWP occur? Who is involved in reviewing and updating the LWP? (administrator, food service, teacher, nurse, parent, community, representative from health dept, extension office, wellness center, etc) How are potential stakeholders made aware of their ability to participate in the development, review, update and implementation of the LWP? The annual assessment must be documented and the results must be made available to the public. FY14- LEAS will be accountable for local school wellness policy implementation, assessment and public updates.
