Vindell Washington, M.D., MHCM, FACEP National Coordinator, Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) The Role of Health IT in Quality Health Care Dr. Vindell Washington provides high-level executive direction and leadership for ONC programs, operations, and policies and advances key Administration initiatives, such as delivery system reform, the Precision Medicine Initiative, and implementation of the Interoperability Roadmap. Prior to joining ONC, Washington served as the President of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS) Medical Group and as the health system s Chief Medical Information Officer. During his tenure, the health system has been an early adopter of technology and FMOLHS has been recognized as an Information Week Top 500 Company. The institution s help desk has won the Help Desk Institute best in class award. Luncheon Keynoter Susan Winckler, R.Ph, Esq. REMS information will soon be available in Structured Product Labeling (SPL) format, making it easier to access systematic, standardized information about REMS programs that can be incorporated into existing practices and workflows. This session will introduce participants to REMS SPL, how it works, what information it provides, and how it can interact with NCPDP standards to help automate and standardize REMS workflows. Chief Risk Management Officer, Leavitt Partners As the transition away from fee-for-service payment continues, medication use and pharmacy practice are becoming increasingly important parts of valuebased payment (VBP) structures, including Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). This presentation will provide an overview of the transition to VBP (with an emphasis on ACOs) and discussion of how medication use and manufacturer, payer and provider approaches to medication use may change in that transition.
