Healthcare professionals will be given certificates of attendance upon request for 9.75 contact hours for the two days of conference. No partial credits will be granted. Purpose: This program is designed to present the healthcare professionals and caregiver with new information on the care and management of the patient with mental illness. Objectives: At the completion of the program the participant will be able to: Identify health resources and services programs available in the community Recognize current legal and ethical issues related to mental illness and their impact Discuss research treatment strategies and medications used with mental health disorders List ways of communicating and interacting with mentally ill clients and families Audience: Physicians, pharmacists, nurses, nursing home administrators, and other health care professionals providing services to the patients with mental illness. Other members of the public interested in mental illness are welcome to attend. There will be no discrimination on the selection of applicants based on race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion or disability.

6 2006 NAMI IOWA Fall Conference NAMI IOWA 5911 Meredith Drive, Suite E Des Moines, IA STAMP Scholarships A limited number of scholarships for both consumer and family members of NAMI IOWA are available and will be awarded on a lottery basis. Scholarships include: conference registration (meals provided with the conference), a hotel room for one night and reimbursement for travel expenses. Requests for scholarships must be received by NAMI IOWA by November 1st. Entries will not be accepted if the request is postmarked after this date. A letter will suffice and must indicate: That the requester is a NAMI IOWA member; Whether the request is for a consumer or a family scholarship; Name, address, and contact information; and Which night the hotel room would be used. Lottery winners will be notified by November 8th.
