1 Section 1 Workplace hazards 1.1 Violence & Aggression Reduction NHS GGC will have a strategy and Policy in place to reduce the risks of violence and aggression towards staff. This will be monitored through KPI data. Violence and Aggression reduction will be considered a priority for the organisation. Violence and Aggression incident and training data will be reviewed by the Forum twice per year. High risk groups will be targeted for training. The annual strategy/ action plan will be submitted to the Forum. The Standards of Behaviour Protocol will be utilised where appropriate. of Health and Safety Responsibility for Partnership / Acute ate Service s 1
2 1.2 Musculoskeletal injury reduction NHS GREATER GLASGOW AND CLYDE NHS GGC will have a strategy in place to monitor and review all reported musculoskeletal injuries and disorders, and implement an on-going programme of risk reduction. Musculoskeletal and ergonomic issues related to the Display Screen Equipment Regulations and agile working will also be targeted. The Moving and Handling Passport scheme will continue to be implemented. A review will be undertaken of musculoskeletal issues and guidance related to agile workers. of Health and Safety Responsibility for Partnership / Acute ate Service s 2
3 1.3 Fire Safety and Security NHS GREATER GLASGOW AND CLYDE NHS GGC will audit compliance with statutory Fire Safety provisions including general awareness and evacuation training. NHS GGC will audit compliance with the Security Policy across the organisation. Local Fire Safety Audits to be further progressed. Further measures based on work with Scottish Fire & Rescue Service will be progressed. Security audits to continue across GGC. The Security policy will be further developed and implemented with input from Public Health. Annual security report will be submitted to the HS Forum. of Property Procurement and Facilities Management Assoc of PPFM Responsibility for Partnership / Acute ate Service s 3
4 1.4 Stress in the workplace NHS GGC will ensure that Stress in the Workplace is risk assessed across the organisation, and local action plans are in place in accordance with the Stress in the Workplace Policy. Staff will have access to a range of interventions and training related to stress and mental health. Action Plan for 2017/18 The Stress in the Workplace Policy will be promoted through the staff health strategy and staff and managers will be made aware and have the opportunity to attend / access the range of training and interventions available. The organisation will further progress implementation of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Policy. of Health and Safety Partnership / Acute ate Service s 4
5 1.5 Agile Working NHSGGC acknowledges the increase in agile workers across the organisation, and will ensure that all agile working is undertaken in a safe and legislative compliant manner. Best practice will be developed. The organisation will ensure that appropriate guidelines and risk assessment procedures are in place for all agile workers. of Health and Safety Responsibility for Partnership / Acute ate Service s 5
6 1.6 Sharps Safety The Health and Safety (Sharp Instruments in Healthcare) regulations 2013 will be fully implemented across NHS GGC. Action Plan for 2017/18 An implementation programme will be devised and implemented related to minimising risks to staff through risk assessment, use of safety devices and training and information for staff. Procedures will also be highlighted related to actions for staff to take in the event of a needlestick injury. of Health and Safety Partnership / Acute ate Service s 6
7 1.7 Skin Health NHS GGC will implement the Health Surveillance Policy for all staff who are assessed as at risk in relation to skin health. This is a legislative requirement. Action Plan for 2017/18 All staff who utilise gloves for work activities or undertake wet work will be identified by line managers and participate in the health surveillance programme as required by legislation. of Occupational Health Service Partnership / Acute ate Service s 7
8 1.8 Slips, trips and falls Risk assessments and control measures will be in place related to slips, trips and falls which affect staff, patients and visitors. Appropriate training and education for staff will also be in place. Action Plan for 2017/18 A review of the organisations Falls Strategy and Policy will take place leading to a detailed implementation plan. Appropriate training will be identified through a training needs analysis and an associated training plan implemented. of Health and Safety Partnership / Acute ate Service s 8
9 1.9 Asbestos management A detailed Asbestos Policy and action plan will be in place for the organisation which aims to minimise the risk to staff, patients and visitors of potential exposure to asbestos. Appropriate training will be in place for staff. 10 Section 2 arrangements 2.1 Key Performance Indicators Datix incident data 3 Year Strategy The organisation will prepare KPI data that will be reviewed by the Forum and s on a 6 monthly basis. Incident data analysis must take place at local level. Incident data (Datix) will be reviewed by the Forum twice per year. The Forum will consider 5 year trends data for agreed KPIs. of Health and Safety Responsibility for Partnership / Acute ate Service s End of year progress and 10
11 2.2 Health and Safety Management Manual audit NHS GREATER GLASGOW AND CLYDE NHS GGC will ensure the management manual is functioning effectively across the organisation with an associated audit programme. Audit results will be reviewed by the Forum. Manual audits will continue annually. At least 25% of all manuals per year. Results are presented locally. An audit report will be provided to the Forum annually. of Health and Safety Partnership / Acute ate Service s 11
12 2.3 Health and Safety Training Programmes NHS GREATER GLASGOW AND CLYDE NHS GGC will implement a programme of health and safety training based on a needs analysis, and will audit uptake on an annual basis. Audits of Training courses and uptake rates will take place and reported to Forum once per year. Courses will be reviewed on a 3 year cycle. of Health and Safety Responsibility for Partnership / Acute ate Service s All health and safety training and education courses will be reviewed over a 3 year period. A blended learning approach will be taken whereby E- learning will be utilised in addition to face to face training, where deemed the most appropriate form of training. 12
13 2.4 Unannounced inspections NHS GREATER GLASGOW AND CLYDE A programme of unannounced inspections will be planned for each year. Key themes will be identified for each year. Action Plan for 2017/18 The Health and Safety Forum will approve a plane of unannounced inspections across all sectors of the organisation with a focus on agreed key themes. of Health and Safety Partnership / Acute ate Service s 13
