1 THE PENNINE AUTE HOSPITALS NHS TRUST Version 14 - Updated 14 April 2014 (This Statement of Purpose is reviewed every six months and is next due in October 2014) Statement of Purpose Aims and Objectives of the provider in carrying out the regulated activities The purpose of all of our regulated services is embodied in the Trust s Mission Statement which is: To provide the very best care for each patient on every occasion. The Trust s approach to delivering these services is as follows: 1) Through all staff embracing the following Values: Patient care is at the centre of everything we do. We work together to deliver a high quality service to provide the best possible outcome for patient Accountability, honesty and integrity are keys to our success both individually and across the Trust. Treating everyone with respect and promoting good working relationships will support individuals in reaching their full potential. 2) Through achieving the Strategic Aims of the Trust: An outstanding hospital service: We will plan the transformation of the North Manchester General Hospital into a hospital fit for the 21 st century. Our intention will also be to move out of inadequate accommodation in The Royal Oldham Hospital. Outstanding community services, working with partners. Moving Trust services into the community enables us to provide integrated pathways and support preventative care. Reducing our hospital footprint facilitates the transformation of the North Manchester site. Outstanding value for money. This objective is a worthwhile goal in itself and is fundamental to achievement of the other objectives. The Trust will achieve efficiency through a focus on reducing length of stay, on cutting down on interim staff, centralising activity and identifying processes which could be discontinued. One of the key components of the strategic direction for the Trust between 2010 and 2012 was the implementation of the Healthy Futures and Making It Better programmes, which were plans approved by the Secretary of State for Health. This has seen radical reconfiguration of service across the four main sites of the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The implementation of the Healthy Futures and Making It Better has now been successfully completed. 3) Through implementing the strategic aims through orporate, ivision, irectorate and epartment objectives which are then translated into the personal objectives of individual managers and their staff.
