2 About the conference A major conference in Northern Ireland to address a spectrum of issues in relation to the prevention and control of healthcare associated infection. Jointly hosted by the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPSNI), the Northern Ireland Healthcare-associated Infection Surveillance Centre and The Royal Hospitals, Belfast, the conference will be an important milestone in the Department s strategy for the prevention and control of healthcare associated infection. Distinguished international speakers will be joined by UK experts for a programme which will educate, inform and share information on all aspects of infection prevention and control. 6 Masterclass details Masterclass 1 : Making the numbers count: getting the most from SSI surveillance The masterclass will focus on basic surveillance methodology and risk adjustment, specifically concerning surgical site infection. Audience participation will be encouraged and time will be allowed for questions.
