1 Job description JOB TITL: PRSON RPORTS TO: PRSON SUPRVISS: eputy Manager Manager Residential Care Workers PURPOS OF JOB: To join a team offering a comprehensive residential services for young people aged between years. Our aim being to ensure the physical, social, emotional care and development of the young residents at the establishment. JOB CONTXT: Parkview House strives to provide service s which are user friendly and sensitive to the individual needs of our residents, Local authorities and all sections of the community. It is the responsibility of all staff to work to achieve this within our ethos of service, quality, equality and partnership. (Partnership means demonstrating a commitment to close co-operation with colleagues and joint work in partnership with our service users). UTIS To deputise for the manager in his/her absence. In the absence of the Home Manager to act as a focus on all the day-to-day management issues. To assist the Home Manager in providing support to individual young people having respect for their individuality, privacy, dignity and emotional needs. Assist the Home Manager to assess referrals. nsure that the proper arrangements are made for reception and introduction of the young person. To take action as laid down in the procedure in the event of an emergency, e.g. fire, accident, missing person and to keep and make reports when such action is taken. Be responsible for the administration of medication. nsure the safe keeping of all medicine stored within the home. To assist in ensuring effective communication at all levels within the home. To maintain the rota and assist in the delegation of duties to staff. To maintain all records in the home. To prepare written reports as required. To ensure staff comply with the companies Health and Safety policy. To ensure compliance of all staff with the Regulations of the Food Hygiene General Regulations 1970 and Food Act 1984 and their amendments. To assist in the weekly budget preparation and to monitoring of expenditure as required. To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the keyworker system. 2 RSPONSIBILITIS: To maintain links within the local community and to develop an awareness of local resources. To involve parents. Relatives and friends in the lives of the young people where appropriate. To liaise with other professionals. To produce, implement and evaluate individual placement plans. To be involved in young persons Looked After Children reviews. Responsibility for the maintenance of the physical and general health of the young people To work to create an environment in which each individual s emotional and personal development needs are met including social and educational needs and leisure interests. To ensure the personal, social and educational needs of each young person are assessed and reviewed in accordance with parkviewcare s policy. To facilitate non-discriminatory practices. To participate in the recruitment, selection and induction of staff. To have a working knowledge and be responsible alongside other senior staff for the implementation of parkviewcare s policies, guidelines and procedures. To provide regular individual supervision and perance reviews. To promote and participate in the professional development and training of staff. To organise and chair staff meetings. OTHR RQUIRMNTS: Sleeping in / shift work, including evenings, bank holidays and weekends on a rota system. Provide cover to other parkviewcare homes when required. To be able to undertake overnight stays for training and young people s holidays.
