1 Bellaire Band Camp July 25 th 29 th Enclosed you will find the following band camp information: 1. Parental permission form 2. Emergency medical form 3. Summer uniform order form (woodwind, brass, percussion only) Return forms to Mrs. Hawkins by: April 18 th *All fees, including uniform and camp fees, must be paid before July 8 th. Once again, band camp will be held July 25 th to July 29 th. The cost for band camp is $ the price of the new shorts, which is to be determined. The daily band camp schedule, summer schedule, and fall schedule are also included in this packet. The date for Kennywood is Wednesday, August 10 th. Please make all band camp checks payable to Bellaire Band Patrons with your child s name in the memo section. Please mail checks to: Bellaire Band Parents c/o Tina Mehlman Home: Mehlman Road Cell: Bellaire, OH The celebrity server will be held Tuesday, June 28 th. 7 What To Bring To Camp *You are limited to one suitcase and one carry-on. Please do NOT bring large stereo systems or large televisions. If you plan on bringing an acceptable size TV and/or game system, PLEASE only one per room. Also, there is no guarantee if cable will be provided. 1. Please, BRING YOUR INSTRUMENT! 2. Also, BRING YOUR MUSIC! 3. In addition, bring your flip folders, sticks, neck strap, auxiliary equipment, etc. 4. Summer uniform: shirt, shorts, black socks, black band shoes 5. Sheets, pillow, blanket, or sleeping bag (sheets are for a double bed) 6. Enough clothes for 5 days. ALWAYS PACK EXTRA! Accidents happen! 7. Swim suit (pool may or may not be open) 8. SUNBLOCK AND SUNGLASSES! Also, bring a hat. 9. Alarm clock 10. Shoes for marching. Bring extra in case of rainy weather. NO sandals/flip-flops on the field. 11. You may bring snacks, but remember that space is limited. You may also bring some spending money; there are vending machines and a general store on the campus. 12. Towels and toiletries. DO NOT FORGET DEODORANT! 13. Bring a jacket or hoodie the field is usually chilly in the mornings. 14. Cell phone if you have one

10 Instructions for Medications: All prescription drugs must be carried in the container in which they were issued (with medical orders and physician s name intact) and given to the camp nurse. Other prescription drugs will not be accepted. Only bring the amount needed for your stay at camp. If you need regular over-the-counter medications, they must be in the original container. Like prescription medications, these must be given to the nurse. All medications will be given as directed on the original package/container. If there are any dosage adjustments, you must bring a signed documentation from your physician. Check medication(s) that student may receive if deemed necessary and administered by a health professional. Examples of brand names are given in parentheses. Generic or other brand names may be provided. 12 Please read the following information. As with any large undertaking it is important to set down rules and regulations for the health, safety, and welfare of the students, parents, and band staff. As a band camp member, you expected to follow ALL rules and regulations. 1. You are under all rules and regulations of the Bellaire School District handbook. Band camp is a school activity, so any violations of policy will be dealt with according to school district standards. 2. Under NO circumstances will hazing of other students/staff be tolerated. 3. Boys are not permitted in girls rooms or the girls wing. Girls are not permitted in the boys rooms or boys wing. 4. You are not permitted off campus. 5. You must attend all meals, rehearsals, and band functions. 6. You must ride the bus to Bethany. Parents are responsible for getting their child home from the camp on Friday night. 7. No visitors are permitted except on Friday night for the show. 8. Refrigerators and microwaves may be in each suite. More will be known at a later date. 9. Phone or cable service will not be provided, so bring your cell phone. 10. Keep cell phones off while on the field, sectional, or music rehearsals. 11. Each room is air-conditioned; however, if you open the window the air-conditioner shuts off. 12. Each night there will be a room check. You are not permitted out of your room until the next morning when the chaperone wakes you. This campus has several security cameras, and security has increased recently. Usually a security guard will do routine night checks in every building. This protects the students and monitors behavior. 13. Report all injuries and illnesses to the medical person. 14. All prescription medication is to be given to the medical person. 15. Lost room keys will cost you $ and lost Bethany College key cards will cost you $ Dining Hall Rules and Regulations 1. Guests are not permitted to cut in food lines. 2. No food service ware (glasses, china, silverware, etc.) is to be taken from the dining facility. 3. No person is permitted in the dining hall unless he/she has presented a meal bracelet or purchased a meal. 4. Health and safety requirements demand that shoes and shirts be worn at all times. No spikes (rubber or steel) are permitted.
13 5. All trays, silverware, china, glassware, and paper are to be taken to the dish room or appropriate racks. Please self-bus tables, and make sure to take trays, trash, etc. to assigned area. 6. Smoking and/or use of smokeless tobacco are prohibited in the dining rooms. 7. Guests are not permitted to throw food or other objects in the dining facilities. 8. Foul language and horseplay will not be tolerated. 9. Hazing activities will not be tolerated in the dining facilities. Residence Halls Rules and Regulations 1. The consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages in a state-owned residence hall or campus is prohibited, even if the quest is of legal age. 2. Any drug or alcohol paraphernalia (beer tap, bar, pipes, bong, etc.) found in possession of a guest will also result in the dismissal from the university, and possible legal action will take place. 3. The possession of firearms, knives, or other lethal weapons on campus is prohibited. 4. The hanging or throwing of objects out of residence hall windows is prohibited. 5. Do not remove furniture from rooms or common areas. Any furniture that has been moved or is missing will result in charges to the quest or group. 6. Do not take beds or furniture apart. 7. Tampering with the cable, which is provided during spring and fall, is strictly prohibited. 8. Guest rooms should be locked at all times to prevent theft or damages from other visitors. 9. No pets of any kind are permitted in the residence halls. No bikes, motorized vehicles, or hover boards are permitted in the residence halls. 10. Damages to common areas and lounges will result in the billing of conference quests. 11. Ball play or sports in the residence halls is strictly prohibited. 12. Do not paint or mark on ceilings or walls. Do not hang flammable materials from the walls or ceilings. Inspections of the rooms will be done before and after the group leaves. Groups will be billed for any damages or defacing of property. 13. Tampering with fire equipment is a serious offense and a danger to all conference quests. Fines for this will exceed $600 when the fire alarm sounds: all quests are to evacuate the building immediately using the nearest exit. 14. Stoves, hot plates, and air conditioners are not permitted in the residence halls. 15. Guests found acting disorderly, riotous, destructive, or disruptive are subject to legal action by Public Safety
14 16. Any person on University premises or in a building is required to produce identification upon request by a Public Safety Officer or Conference Staff person. 17. Harassment, disrespect, uncooperativeness or verbal abuse towards others will result in immediate dismissal from the university. 18. Any device that produces an open flame or explosion is prohibited (i.e. incense, candles, fireworks). 19. No cleats are to be worn in any residence halls.
