In comparison to other HEIs offering the same courses, 12 of the 18 cohorts on these subjects are in the lowest scoring 25% nationally for overall satisfaction. The majority of these cohorts have relatively high response rates of over 70%, with only one cohort having a rate lower than 69%. Physiotherapy Rank (/28) The University of Nottingham 93.8% % Nursing Unspecified Rank (/12) The University of Northampton 76.5% % The University of Nottingham 74.4% % University of Lincoln 72.6% %
5 Validating the results The results have been checked against three sources: Data published by UniStats Information produced by the HEE North London The raw data from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) It was found that there is an error in the HEE NWL reports that incorporates some data from the previous year in to the current year. For Example, Adult Nursing at Nottingham scores 77.1% on the HEE NWL report, but 58% on UniStats; checking the raw data confirms that the UniStats number is correct. The numbers in this presentation refer to HEE commissioned courses only; the HEE NWL report at a top level includes any course affiliated to healthcare and numbers may vary further because of that.
6 Actions Measures Area of action Action Planned Intended Outcomes East Midlands overall showing significant decreases for communication scores, and each of these was considerably below the national averages. For example, Any changes in the course or teaching have been communicated effectively has a score of 67.7% for East Mids HEIs compared to 76.3% for the rest of the country. Improve communications with students. Currently students communicate predominantly through social media. HEI however use and Blackboard To setup and develop a social media platform to engage with students. The platform will provide regular update of key programme information. Measured through reduced concerns expressed about communication to the programme leaders. Scores related to feedback and comments have decreased substantially in the East Midlands; I have received detailed comments on my work scored 59.7% for the East Midlands, which is 9.5% lower than the rest of the country. The measure The course is well organised and is running smoothly decreased by 8.8% between 2014 and 2015 for the East Midlands this measure was previously higher than the rest of the country but is now 9.3% below. Assessment and feedback - Clarity of feedback and detailing of comments Low satisfaction for organisation and management particularly smooth running Ensure marking grids and rubrics available for all modules. Formation of marking teams to improve consistency. Feed forward template to be developed Reiterate process for students to raise concerns/issues with student rep and course team Feedback provided to students should allow students to develop moving forward, hence an improvement in NSS scores. Monitoring and response to student concerns The overall satisfaction measure, which was previously high in the East Midlands, decreased by 5.4% between 2014 and 2015 and is now 5.5% below the rest of the country. Low Develop blog and feedback page to be utilised by students which will improve communication with students. Students are provided with opportunity to feedback in real time and the HEI to act upon feedback showing that their feedback does make a difference.
