1 BSc (Hons) Nursing (Child Health) INDUCTION STAGE 1 Induction: February 2016 Dear Student Welcome to your first year in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Plymouth University. You are starting on a fascinating intellectual and professional journey and you will need to stay focused and work hard, but should also aim to enjoy your studies and make the most of your time as a member of the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the University. You will see from the timetable below that Induction Week will give you the chance to find out more about the Nursing programme and to meet staff and fellow students. You will also become familiar with Plymouth University both its campus and the services available to support you. Changes may be made prior to your start on Monday 22 February 2016 although the times of sessions are not expected change. A paper copy of the timetable will be provided at your first session on Monday 22 February It is a good idea to: read it before you arrive. follow any links and check instructions bring with you any documents, photos, etc where these are specified. Some documents may need to be returned to the University before you arrive. New students: upload a photograph If you have not already done so, please complete the Card form posted on the University website and forward it to the Faculty. This photo will appear on your University Card, which is issued to you when you attend the University Information and Card Collection session this week. Without this photograph, your University Card cannot be produced. NB: this is not required if you already have a University Card because you were previously a student on another course or at a Partner College. 2 Online Enrolment You must complete Online Enrolment by Monday 22 February Details of how to online enrol are available on the University website MONDAY 22 FEBRUARY Session Welcome to the BSc (Hons) Nursing (Child Health) programme Rolle 115 An introduction to the School of Nursing and Midwifery and BSc (Hons) Nursing (Child Health) programme Rachel Carter Child Health Field Lead Information and Card collection Group 1 The Information and card collection session will enable you to meet the School Professional Services team and complete all the necessary paperwork. Collecting your University ID card enables you to access the University library and Student Union. It is important you attend this session as late registration may lead to a delay in receipt of the NHS Business Services Agency bursary for students eligible to receive the monthly payments. Sherwell Foyer and Mezzanine You will need to bring with you the documents that require completion, together with any additional information requested by the Admissions Team. This includes the self-declaration form If your fees are paid by a sponsor, you will need to provide us with written confirmation of the agreement. Please bring this information with you to the Information and card collection session on Monday 22 February The timetable for your occupational health appointment later in the week will also be available at this session. School of Nursing and Midwifery Professional Services Team ROYAL COLLEGE OF NURSES (RCN) UNISON Representatives the Royal College of Nursing and UNISON will be attending throughout the day. Appointment times will be available from Monday 22 February. Each appointment takes approximately 30 minutes and it is important that you attend as this is a pre-requisite to attending your placement area. 5 There will be a series of follow-up appointments for inoculations throughout the first term. Please ensure you bring a record of any immunisations you may have had to your first appointment. Occupational Health Nurses Session Uniform Fittings : It is important you attend these fittings as the uniforms are only received a few days before your practice placement and there will not be time to exchange your uniforms. There will be opportunity for you to try on the tunic and trousers.
