1 M I N U T E S Northvale Board of Health September 8, :30 PM CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER Mrs. Visconi called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM in the Board of Health meeting room located on the second floor of the Municipal Building at 116 Paris Avenue, Northvale, New Jersey STATEMENT Mrs. Visconi read the Sunshine Statement into the record as follows: This is a regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Health of the Borough of Northvale. The date, time and location of this meeting have been advertised in the official newspaper of the Borough, filed with the Borough Clerk, and posted in the Borough Hall. All notice requirements of the Open Public Meetings Act for this meeting have been fulfilled. Please note the fire exits as required by law at public meetings. This is a no smoking facility. ROLL CALL Mrs. Hunkin, Dr. Levine, Mrs. Uglione, Mrs. Visconi were present. Also Present: Linda Quinn, Principal Sanitary Inspector, Meg Mantello, Senior Public Health Nurse, Billy Guyt, Pest Control Officer, and Frances Weston, Board of Health Secretary. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On a motion made by Dr. Levine, seconded by Mrs. Uglione all were in favor to approve the Minutes of March 10, 2016 meeting. CORRESPONDENCE 1. There being no comments from the public, Mrs. Visconi closed the meeting to the public. SECRETARY S REPORT Mrs. Weston reported that the Flu Clinic will be held on October 8 th, 10:00-11:30 AM in the Senior Center. US Pharmacy will be running the clinic. They will also go to the school and administer the flu shot to the teachers and staff. The Rabies Clinic is scheduled for October 18 th, 6:30-7:30 PM at the DPW building. Mrs. Weston told the Board that the Centennial Committee will be having a carnival September 23, 24, and 25. She asked Linda Quinn if she would have to inspect the food vendors that may be there. Mrs. Quinn said she would have to inspect them. Mrs. Quinn advised that any food vendor that will be at the park for Town Day does not need to get a temporary food license if they have been licensed with the town. The next Board of Health meeting is November 10 th at 7:30 PM. NEW BUSINESS OLD BUSINESS The Board Members discussed roosters. Since roosters are not allowed in Northvale, if we receive any complaints, Linda Quinn would contact the resident and inform them that they are prohibited. REPORTS Nurse s Report Ms. Mantello reported that Blood Pressure is taken at the Senior Center once a month. She also spoke about her report. She brought brochures on various health issues. the Nurse s Report. Pest Control Officer s Report
4 Mr. Guyt reported that he has been busy trying to trap groundhogs. He hasn t had any rat complaints. He inspected the parks and they are in good shape. He had to bait the house on Hughes Street again. He has been baiting this same house for years and would like some advice from the Board. Mrs. Visconi asked if the resident calls Mr. Guyt directly. Mr. Guyt answered that the resident calls the DPW shop or the Borough Hall. Mrs. Hunkin asked if there have been any rats at this residence. Mr. Guyt hasn t seen any in about 12 years. Mrs. Visconi told Mr. Guyt if the resident calls him again he should do the baiting and after that have him come to a Board of Health meeting. On a motion made by Dr. Levine, seconded by Mrs. Uglione all were in favor to approve the Pest Control Officer s Report. Health Officer s Report Mrs. Quinn reported that it has been a quiet summer. She received a few reports on stagnant pools. The Health Department acts quickly on these complaints and contacts the Mosquito Commission. There have been a few dog bites. the Health Officer s Report. Animal Control Officer s Report On a motion made by Mrs. Uglione, seconded by Dr. Levine all were in favor to approve the Animal Control Officer s Report. COUNCIL MEMBER REPORT Since Councilman Sokoloski was not present, there was no Council Member report. BOARD MEMBERS COMMENTS The Board Members had no comments at this time. OPEN TO PUBLIC Mrs. Visconi opened the meeting to the public. There being no comments from the public, Mrs. Visconi closed the meeting to the public. ADJOURNMENT On a motion made by Mrs. Hunkin, seconded by Dr. Levine all were in favor to adjourn the meeting.
