1 REGISTERED NURSING PROGRAM The two year program prepares the student for licensure as an RN at the Associate of Applied Science degree level (AASN). The four semester program consists of 66 semester hours of general education, nursing related and nursing core courses. Upon completion of the degree, the student will be eligible for the national/state licensure examination for registered nursing. The state of the art High Fidelity Simulation labs allow students to practice patient care scenarios in realistic settings without risk or harm to patients or other health care professionals. These life like mannequins provide virtual feedback using computers that regulate breathing, palpable pulses, and heart tones among other features. Our realistic adult and pediatric simulators respond physiologically to student interventions, such as medication administration, intravenous fluid infusions and application of oxygen. The state of the art simulation labs provide a unique environment in which students can develop both discipline specific competencies and skills mandatory for inter professional collaboration to achieve optimal patient outcome. Using life like computerized mannequins to replicate the complex patient environment of the clinical setting, simulation offers nursing students the opportunity to practice in a safe atmosphere before beginning fulltime work in a real clinical setting.
